Abstract

Background: Spontaneous abortion is a traumatic experience that not only has physical consequences but also affects the mother's psychological and emotional well-being. Emotional responses, such as sadness, anxiety, anger, and loss of meaning in life, are often overlooked in health care. Objective: This study aims to explore the emotional experiences of mothers who experience spontaneous abortion and understand how they cope with and interpret the event. Methods: This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Six mothers who experienced spontaneous abortion within the past year participated. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. Results: Four main themes emerged in this study: (1) a profound sense of loss, (2) feelings of guilt and self-blame, (3) limited emotional support from the surrounding environment, and (4) the process of acceptance and spiritual meaning. The majority of participants indicated a need for psychological support after the event. Conclusion: Spontaneous abortion causes significant emotional distress. Empathy-based interventions and structured psychological support within health care are needed to help mothers cope with the emotional impact after the event.

Abstract

Various health elements are directly involved in the care of mothers and babies, such as doctors, midwives and nurses, or supporting elements, such as community organizations, which will support the EMAS Program. It is hoped that the preparation for childbirth that will be carried out with a midwife can reduce the mother's unpreparedness during childbirth and increase the mother's receipt of optimal care. The aim of the research was to determine the relationship between knowledge and the behavior of pregnant women in preparation for childbirth. This research method is analytical descriptive research with a cross sectional design. The population is all pregnant women, totaling 57 pregnant women. The research sample is the total population, namely 57 pregnant women. Data analysis used the Chi-square test. The results of the study showed that the majority of pregnant women had good knowledge, 31 (54.4%) and the behavior of pregnant women in preparing for delivery was mostly positive behavior, 44 (77.2%), the results of the X² table statistical test were 5,591 and the calculated X² was 11,339, meaning that the calculated X² value is greater than the table X² value and the p value = 0.003 or smaller than α = 0.05 with a confidence interval of 95%. Conclusion: there is a relationship between knowledge and the behavior of pregnant women in preparing for childbirth at the Mamuju Community Health Center.

Abstract

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is an important medium in maternal and child health services, serving as a recording, education, and communication tool between health workers and mothers. However, the utilization of the MCH Handbook by mothers is still suboptimal. One factor influencing the utilization of the MCH Handbook is the mother's level of knowledge. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the utilization of the MCH Handbook. The research method used was quantitative with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of mothers who owned the MCH Handbook and visited health care facilities. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using statistical tests. The results showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and utilization of the MCH Handbook (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the better the mother's knowledge, the more optimal the utilization of the MCH Handbook.

Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) is a health service provided to pregnant women on a regular and planned basis to monitor the health of the mother and fetus. However, some pregnant women still do not utilize ANC services optimally due to a lack of knowledge and understanding. This community service activity aims to improve pregnant women's knowledge of the importance of ANC through health education. Implementation methods include counseling, interactive discussions, and knowledge evaluation. The results of the activity indicate an increase in pregnant women's knowledge regarding the definition, purpose, benefits, and schedule of ANC visits. This activity is expected to increase pregnant women's compliance with regular ANC visits, thereby supporting efforts to prevent pregnancy complications.
