Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) learning model in improving students' numeracy skills and learning interests. This type of research is experimental research using pseudo-experimental or quasi-experimental designs. This research scheme uses Nonequivalent Control Group Design, where the selected control and experimental classes are given tests at the beginning of the research (pretest) and given questionnaires of interest in learning mathematics, then giving different treatment between the control class and experimental classes, then ending with final test activities (posttest) and filling out questionnaires of interest in learning mathematics. Data collection techniques use the distribution of pretest and posttest questions and questionnaires of interest in learning mathematics. The data analysis used is normality test, homogeneity test, and independent sample t-test. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Yogyakarta by involving class X E5 students as an experimental class and class X E6 students as a control class. The results showed that the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) learning model was more influential in improving numeracy skills and interest in learning mathematics for grade X students of SMA Negeri 4 Yogyakarta in the 2023/2024 academic year when compared to conventional learning models.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of student learning independence on mathematics learning achievement. This type of research is survey research with quantitative methods. This study used grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Pandanarum Banjarnegara, Central Java as a population of 90 students. While the sample selection used Krejcie & Morgan theory so that 73 students were taken. The research instrument used a questionnaire of student learning independence and students' mathematics scores in midterm exams that were valid and reliable. The data analysis used is data description, prerequisite test analysis and simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was no effect of learning independence on students' mathematics learning achievement. The value of the coefficient of determination (R square) of 0,048 which means that the influence of student learning independence is only 4,8% on student learning perception, while 95,2% is influenced by other variables that are not studied. Therefore, this study concluded that learning independence did not affect the learning achievement of grade VIII students of SMP N 1 Pandanarum, so that further researchers could use factors other than learning independence that could affect learning achievement at the school.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) learning model. The subjects of this research were 10th grade students at a public high school in Yogyakarta. This type of research uses experimental research with a quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental design. The data collection technique uses a distribution of pretest and posttest questions. The research instrument used was a test sheet. The data analysis used was the normality test, homogeneity test, and paired sample t-test. The results of the research show that there is a difference in the average score between the pretest and posttest which shows that there is a significant increase in the average of 33.30. The hypothesis results show a comparison of the tcount and ttable tests, where the tcount value is 26.281 and the ttable value is 2.030. This means that the value of tcount > ttable. This means that the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) learning model influences students' numeracy abilities.
