Abstract

Buku dan membaca adalah dua sisi mata uang yang saling berkaitan. Meskipun saat ini sudah beragam media dalam memfasilitasi kegiatan membaca akan tetapi tetap bukulah yang menjadi pilihan utama. Membiasakan membaca butuh proses dan waktu untuk bisa membumikannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Faktor lingkungan dan ketidaktersediaan fasilitas sangat mempengaruhi hal tersebut. Itulah yang dialami pada masyarakat desa Trajaya. Untuk itu pembuatan taman baca ditengah desa menjadi salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan dan memfasilitasi minat baca masyarakat terutama anak-anak. Penyediaan buku-buku dengan memanfaatkan sumbangan dan pengadaan sarana pendukung lain dengan melibatkan masyarakat dalam kegiatan tersebut sekaligus menjadi edukasi tersendiri dalam program ini. Dengan terwujudnya perpustakaan desa diharapkan melek baca pada masyarakat dapat terwujud. Selain dari itu pembuatan perpustakaan desa merupakan wujud kepedulian mahasiswa terhadap masyarakat dan pendidikan.

Abstract

Wattpad has become a popular application. It is not only a medium to read stories, but also it can be used as a medium to learn writing. For some people, including students, writing takes work. Thus, it declines students’ interest in writing. They might get some difficulties when they start to write and should get some kind of help, and using Wattpad can be a solution to their problem in writing learning. Besides easy to use, Wattpad is also provided several features that might help students to learn to write. On Wattpad, students can share their stories directly and get feedback from other users who will help them to tell their stories to lack thus, and they can revise them. Sharing their experiences and reading the other's story might help the student to improve their skills, not only in writing but also in their way of thinking. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to discuss how to use Wattpad to improve students’ writing skills and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out how the representation of women's feminism is shown in the film Brave. Brave is an animated princess-themed film created by Pixar Animation Studio and Walt Disney Pictures. This type of research is descriptive qualitative using Vladimir Propp's narrative analysis method. The subject of this research is the film Brave which is seen from its narrative structure. Meanwhile, the research object to be analyzed is the representation of women's feminism. the purpose of this study is to find out how the representation of women's feminism is shown in the film Brave. The conclusion of this study is that the Brave film narrative tries to present elements of feminism by breaking female stereotypes. However, this film failed to break the working pattern of the patriarchal system. The film's narrative actually marginalizes women by repeating, affirming, and even justifying stereotypes of women in the film's text, through the selection of conflicts, story development, and the climax at the end of the story. Brave narrates stereotypes about women's work, character, behavior, way of thinking, sexuality, and appearance, as well as their relationship with men. These stereotypes appear in the characters Merida and Elinor.

Abstract

This academic paper delves into the intricate realm of mental health, investigating its impact on the emotional, cognitive, and psychological well-being of individuals. Recognizing the diverse nature of human responses to life's challenges, this paper underscores the importance of effectively managing emotions and stresses. Drawing insights from scholarly sources and the World Health Organization (WHO), the paper highlights the multifaceted nature of mental health and its role in realizing an individual's potential. It explores the significance of a balanced mental state in fostering normalcy, productivity, and positive interpersonal relationships. Additionally, this paper explores the genesis of mental disorders during adolescence and the subsequent repercussions, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and support. The paper also catalogues prevalent mental health disorders such as depression, insomnia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, offering insights into their distinct characteristics. It then navigates through treatment approaches encompassing drug consumption, psychotherapy, and family therapy, which form essential pillars in the restoration of mental equilibrium. This paper concludes by reaffirming the essentiality of mental health in human existence and advocating for collective efforts to foster a supportive environment conducive to mental well-being.

Abstract

The endangerment and extinction of languages represent a significant loss to cultural diversity and heritage. As languages fade into obscurity, so do the unique perspectives, knowledge systems, and traditions they carry. This paper delves into the innovative and creative strategies employed in the revitalization and recovery of endangered languages. Drawing from a diverse range of case studies and linguistic research, this study examines the multifaceted approaches that linguists, educators, communities, and technology developers have adopted to reverse language decline trends. The paper begins by discussing the pressing need to preserve linguistic diversity and the inherent challenges posed by language endangerment. It then navigates through the innovative strategies that have emerged, including the integration of language revitalization programs into formal education, the cultivation of intergenerational transmission through family-centered initiatives, and the empowerment of communities through digital tools and social media platforms. Furthermore, the study highlights the role of creativity and adaptability in these efforts. It explores how language activists and experts have leveraged artistic expression, storytelling, and cultural events to instill a sense of pride and ownership within endangered language communities. The paper also underscores the symbiotic relationship between language and the arts, illustrating how music, visual arts, and literature can serve as both vehicles for language transmission and mediums through which the essence of a language can be captured. Moreover, this research investigates the utilization of modern technology in language revitalization. It showcases examples of digital dictionaries, mobile applications, and online collaborative platforms that facilitate learning, documentation, and communication in endangered languages. The potential of these tools in engaging younger generations and fostering a sense of belonging is discussed in detail.

Abstract

Indonesia adalah negara maritim yang mempunyai luas laut sekitar 70% dari total luas wilayah Indonesia. Potensi sumberdaya alam yang melimpah semakin menambah keyakinan bahwa negara ini adalah negara maritim. Di balik nama besar itu, masih banyak penduduk yang tidak atau bahkan belum merasakan udara pembangunan yang telah lama digalakkan di negara ini. Masyarakat pesisirnya kebanyakan masih hidup dalam kemiskinan. Oleh karena itu diperlukan upaya untuk meningkatkan pemberdayaan masyarakat pesisir, salah satunya melalui hukum atau kebijakan pemerintah yang mempertimbangkan budaya dan nilai-nilai yang dianut masyarakat. Selama tiga dasawarsa terakhir pembangunan kelautan dan perikanan selalu diposisikan sebagai sektor yang dipinggirkan (peripheral sector) dalam pembangunan ekonomi nasional. Penemuan data dilakukan melalui tinjauan literatur yang ada, terutama makalah peer-review, artikel dan laporan penelitian, tetapi juga dari laporan dan penilaian pemerintah dan literatur lain tentang masyarakat pessir di Indonesia. Data ini digunakan untuk menganalisis solusi untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat pesisir yang efektif. Program pemberdayaan masyarakat pesisir bisa dilakukan dengan berbagai cara tergantung daripada aspek yang akan ditingkatkan. Namun dari beberapa program yang dilaksanakan salah satunya berkutat pada peningkatan mindset dalam melihat potensi sumberdaya, salah satunya adalah kegiatan seminar dalam pengolahan sumberdaya.
