Urban youth's growing piety and social media's expansion are intertwined, as shown by the resurgence of influential relocated people. Data collection using interview and documentation techniques such as journal articles, books, and information from the internet as secondary resources. The result of this study the success in commercializing Ustadz Hanan Attaki's influence preaching can be categorized as first, branding suitable for young people's da'i, second, specialization, such as his being an expertise in da’wa from his education journey, and third, building social contacts, which is a process where media and technology can penetrate geography such as social media or internet.

Abstract

The government is currently expanding its religious moderation program as a response and effort to minimize the problem of extremism and exclusivism. Ahmadiyya and Shi'a are two secs that often get discrimination from various parties, even from within the religious community itself. The implementation of religious moderation is apparently only felt by some religious groups in Indonesia. The ambiguity of this phenomenon undermines the assumption that the State prioritizes tolerant and moderate practices towards various religious groups; in fact, the application of moderation does not apply to different sect groups even though they adhere to the same religion. This study aims to analyze the ambiguity of implementing religious moderation on the Ahmadiyya and Shi'a sect groups in Indonesia. This research uses qualitative methods and literature studies as additional references. The informants in this research are representatives of young people from Jamaah Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI) and Ahlul Bait Indonesia (ABI). Data collection used observation, interview, and library research from journal articles, books, and information from the internet as secondary sources. The results of this study conclude that the ambiguity of the application of religious moderation in Indonesia is still not fully felt by minority sect groups such as Ahmadiyya and Shi’a. The majority of Muslims, especially those of the Sunni faith, show greater tolerance and moderation towards followers of other religions. Consequently, the idea of religious moderation is only fully practiced for those who belong to different religions.

Abstract

The development of relations between the West and the Islamic world in recent decades has increased the interest of Western scholars in the study of Islam in general, especially the interest in a single subject, the Hadith. Some renowned western scholars in the past took considerable interest in hadith studies with the critical method approach in assessing the authenticity of hadith such as Ignaz Goldziher, Joseph Schacht, and G.H.A Juynboll. More recently, contemporary hadith studies are more famous for the interdisciplinary approach that combines various disciplines to determine the authenticity and falsity of hadith, such as those of Harald Motzki and Jonathan A.C. Brown. This study aims to analyze the development of hadith studies in the western world by conducting a comparative time study approach between the past and the present. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and literature studies as additional references. Data collection is used library research from leading journal articles, books, and information from the internet as secondary sources. The results of this study show that the development of hadith in the West between past (19th Century) and present (21st Century) has significantly transformed from a critical approach that is skeptical of the authority of Islamic traditions in the past by Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht, to a more inclusive interdisciplinary approach with the History Critical Method towards biblical studies. Furthermore, the results show that the development of hadith studies by Western scholars between past and present is intended to enhance our understanding of the history, methodology, content and relevance of hadith with variations of change over time.
