Abstract

Parents are the main person in charge of their child's education. Wherever children go to school, whether in formal, informal or non-formal institutions, parents still play a role in determining the future of their children's education. Therefore, the objective of research is to describe problems and to know roles of parents in increasing children’s interest in learning in farmer families at gunung Sari Village, Alok District, Sikka Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive which took place in Gunung Sari Village, Alok District, Sikka Regency. The data sources used primary and secondary data sources. The techniques used in data collection are observation and interviews. The data analysis technique used data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of research showed that there were problems faced by patents such as lazy children in terms of learning and also children spending more time playing. Then 2 parents found difficulties in children’s learning such as the existence of conflicting responses in the child so that the learning outcomes achieved were lowern their potential. Meanwhile, the roles of parents showed that parents as Educator, motivator, facilitator and mentor.

Abstract

Lado ceremony is a local cultural tradition carried out from generation to generation by the people of Kloangpopot community in Doreng district Sikka regency. This paper aims to determine how the process of the lado ceremony the types of figurative language and the meaning of figurative language used in the lado ceremony. Lado ceremony in Kloangpopot community is still implemented until now, where local people still believe in the lado ceremony as a way to fortify the rain during certain events, one of which in a wedding ceremony. The research method used in this Paper is a descriptive qualitative method, which uses data collection methods through observation and interview. The results showed that the Lado ceremony in the Kloangpopot community has several stages of the implementation process, starting from the preparation stage including ordering Pawang hujan services, preparing media tools and materials, then the core stage includes the implementation of the Lado ceremony carried out by the pawang hujan, then the closing stage of handing over souvenirs from the host to the pawang hujan as a form of gratitude for helping so that the host’s event process runs smoothly without rain. In the Lado ceremony there are also types of figurative language and their respective meanings, namely personification simile and repetition, the dominant type of figurative language is personification.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe students' perspectives on E-learning and the difficulties faced by students during online learning. Researcher use qualitative methods. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews by distributing questionnaires. From the results of an analysis of students' perspectives on online learning during the Covid-19 period, it was found that students felt that online learning made them quite bored and reduced interaction between teachers and students. Online learning also makes students less understanding of the material provided, so that it has an impact on the level of student focus. The difficulties faced by students in e-learning-based online learning are network access that is not power full, internet quota and facilities such as mobile phones do not yet exist. Based on the explanation above, the researcher concluded that students' perspectives on e-learning can reduce student learning levels and the ability to understand learning.

Abstract

This research discusses the semiotic of Reba ceremony in Mangulewa village. This research has three objectives, namely, (1) describe the process of Reba ceremony, (2) explain the meaning of every stage of Reba ceremony, (3) find out the meaning of signs or symbols and poetry that are used in Reba ceremony. This research used qualitative methods with three data collection techniques, namely observation, interview and, documentation. The results of this study show the following, (1) there are three stages implementation of Reba, namely preparation stage, core stage, and closing stage (2) there is a meaning contained in every stage of Reba ceremony namely, (a) the preparation stage there is wasi loka lanu meaning cleaning and preserving, bui loka means cooking food for the ancestors, (b) the core stage there is kobe dheke means the first night climbing the stairs and entering the traditional house, kobe dhoi means praise/pray to uwi, kobe su'i means a story about the long journey of the ancestors to the land of Ngada, (c) the closing satage is Ire means a prohibition for the Mangulewa community not to work in the garden during the week. (3) The meaning of signs or symbols and poems in the Reba ceremony, (a) signs used in the Reba ceremony, namely uwi, sacrificial animals, su'a uwi, Mataraga, Keka lela, watu lanu, ngadhu, bhaga, (b) poems used in the Reba ceremony ceremony, namely Ti'i ka ebu, fedhi tua, O Uwi, and Su'i Uwi.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the process in the Duai Boe traditional ceremony and analyze the meaning of the symbols used in the Duai Boe traditional ceremony. The researcher used qualitative method. Data collection techniques used in this research are interview and documentation. The results of the research found that there are two stages of the Duai Boe traditional ceremony. The first stages is called Bantang and the second stage is called Paduwai Atowene Ka Boe Tella which is the final stage of Duai Boe traditional ceremony. There are eight symbols used in the Duai Boe traditional ceremony, namely 1) The coconut water symbolizes that in the future the baby can be useful for many people, 2) The rice symbolizes that the mother has performed the Duai Boe ceremony, 3) The ring symbolizes a hope that this child will be attractive like gold, 4) the thread tied around the baby's wrist symbolizes that this baby does not get sick, such as wounds or redness on the wrists, feet, elbows, groin, stomach and neck, 5) money symbolizes as a family thank you to the Sandro for the assistance provided from the beginning of childbirth until the ritual ceremony is complete, 6) knife blade stuck in a cloth has been burnt symbolizes that spirits don't approach and disturb the baby's mother because spirits don't like the smell of burning cloth, 7) The Incense symbolizes calling the spirits of the ancestors to come witness the ritual and are expected to pray for the baby so that what the family hopes for in the future will be achieved.
