Abstract

English is an international language used by the global community from various countries to communicate with each other by default. However, not all people living in tourism areas, including schoolchildren, have fluent English skills. Even though school children are the next generation, who will later develop tourism potential in the area, this service provides English language training to elementary school students in potential tourism areas in Belitung Regency. The community service method is in the form of pronunciation training and short conversations in English, delivered in English games and songs. As a result, children become more proficient in vocabulary and communicating briefly in English. The results of this study indicate that children can quickly master foreign languages if their learning is in the form of fun games or songs. So that English skills can begin to be applied to children and later will make it easier for them to communicate with foreign tourists who stop at these tourist sites.

Abstract

Nutritional deficiencies in elementary school children in developing countries, including Indonesia, are still a major problem. One of the causes is the lack of knowledge and misperceptions in choosing healthy foods. To address this problem, we implemented a game-based nutrition education program to improve the knowledge of elementary school children in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This program involved 44 students in grades 5 and 6 of SD N 02 Gili Indah, Gili Trawangan, and was carried out on August 16, 2023 with the Semangat Muda Indonesia team. This activity consisted of two sessions: nutrition screening by measuring nutritional status and balanced nutrition education using posters. The results of the activity showed that 90.9% of children had normal nutritional status, while the other 9.1% had poor or poor nutritional status. Nutrition education through games and interactive discussions has proven effective in improving children's understanding of balanced nutrition. This can be seen from their correct responses in answering questions at the end of the session and their enthusiasm during the discussion. In conclusion, this game-based nutrition education approach is effective in improving the knowledge of elementary school children because the method is fun and can change their behavior.

Abstract

The decline in the interest of Indonesian students in learning can threaten the quality of education and human resources that have an important role in the future of the nation. Basic knowledge about civic and cultural education, which should be an important understanding for students, is not in line with expectations, especially for Indonesian students who are abroad. This is exacerbated by the negative effects of unsupervised use of gadgets, which makes students more interested in outside cultures and reluctant to learn about local cultures. In addition, the lack of competence of educators and unattractive learning methods also contribute to the low enthusiasm of students. To overcome this problem, we carry out a learning program by involving students' creativity in proactive basic knowledge education for Indonesian immigrant children at At-Tanzil Fostered School, Malaysia. This program involves 20 Kindergarten students and 7 students in grades 1-2 of Elementary School, and will be held on October 2, 2024 with the Youth.id Team. This program uses a learning approach that provides a space for creativity for students to actively participate in learning, which includes hygiene materials, mathematics, and cultural introduction. This approach is expected to increase students' interest in learning and contribute to the development of more effective and inclusive educational methods.

Abstract

Indonesian migrant workers' children in Malaysia face challenges in maintaining their national identity. Although the Indonesian language is still used as a daily communication tool, there is a limited understanding of the role of language and the values of Pancasila in fostering a sense of nationalism. In this context, it is essential to design a targeted educational program to enhance national awareness. This research proposes an educational program based on Pancasila values with an interactive approach, such as the use of the 3 Magic Words ("please," "sorry," and "thank you") and other creative activities. The program aims to cultivate a deep awareness of national identity while fostering pride in being part of the Indonesian nation
