Abstract

The life of the people of Indonesian descent (PIDs) in Glan, Philippines is still far from prosperous. Illegal citizenship status and poverty are the causes of the poor PIDs in Glan. Therefore, many of the PIDs in Glan end up working in the informal sector and earning below the standards of the local Filipino community. The International Community Service Team (KKNI) Glan from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta was then empowered by holding a cooking class for traditional Indonesian snacks. The snacks that are taught are pisang gapit from East Kalimantan and dadar gulung from West Java. The main target of this program is PIDs who are members of the United Church of Christ of The Philippines (UCCTP) church in Glan. This program aims to reintroduce Indonesian culture through food and encourage the economic independence of PIDs in Glan. The methods used in this empowerment are program socialization, cooking training conducted with demonstrations, and mentoring carried out by inviting participants to practice directly. The material presented in this cooking class program can be a business opportunity for PIDs in Glan to improve their economy by utilizing local natural resources and also get to know Indonesian culture again. The result of this activity is that the PIDs in Glan have the opportunity to improve the Indonesian culinary business in the form of pisang gapit and dadar gulung, and the PIDs can preserve Indonesian culture even though they don't live in Indonesia.

Abstract

Arms disarmament policy is widely implemented among countries in the world, especially after the Cold War era. On the other hand, the Japanese Government's policy in easing disarmament arms policy has become a new 'way' in Japan's military ideology since its loss in World War II and was forced to implement pacifism. This study uses the defensive realism theory to explain why Japan eased its arms disarmament policy from 2010 to 2020 under three prime ministers. This research was conducted using qualitative methods using primary data from ministries and departments of Japan and secondary data from scientific journals, books, theses, newspaper articles, and websites. The study results show that easing Japan's disarmament policy is a form of action to maintain the balance of power, especially to balance the aggressiveness of the People's Republic of China (China) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) in terms of military. Keywords: balance of power, Japan's arms disarmament policy, Japan’ military, policy loosening/easing Kebijakan perlucutan senjata banyak diterapkan oleh negara-negara di dunia, terutama setelah era Perang Dingin. Kata-kata Kunci: keseimbangan kekuatan, kebijakan perlucutan senjata Jepang, militer Jepang, pelonggaran kebijakan

Abstract

This article analyzes Tesla's public diplomacy strategy in addressing its reputational crisis following the cobalt mining scandal in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Although not directly involved in mining operations, Tesla faced global criticism for sourcing cobalt from supply chains linked to child labor and human rights abuses. Through a qualitative case study, this research explores how Tesla utilized corporate public diplomacy to rebuild its legitimacy and implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Key efforts include transparency through sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, and technological innovations like blockchain for supply chain traceability. The study concludes that while Tesla’s public diplomacy strategy improved its image, systemic reforms remain essential for ethical global supply chains.

Abstract

In line with the employment numbers the online transportation industries have created, many problems are still related to its workers. Legal protection is needed to regulate this industry for promoting gender inclusiveness. By using the sociology of law concept and gender theory, the objective of this research is to have a comprehensive understanding of the reason for the urgency of legal protection in the scope of the online transportation industry and how it can be correlated with promoting gender-inclusiveness implementation. This article used the juridical-empirical research method. This research used a statutory approach using primary data from interviews, ministries, and departments in Indonesia and secondary data from scientific journals and books. The research found that legal protection can be the social engineering for changing societies’ mindsets and behavior toward the drivers of the online transportation industry. Also, the law is considered social control by policy-makers to implement gender-inclusiveness in Indonesia. This study shows that legal regulations designed as social engineering and social control can transform the gig economy ecosystem into a safer, fairer, and gender-inclusive workspace for female drivers.
