Abstract

One of the challenges facing universities is how to produce graduates who are not only capable of developing knowledge, but who are also able to absorb it quickly and participate in the world of work. The employability of graduates can be demonstrated by the profile of the work they do. Public perception can be measured through a tracer study, which is a study of the track record of graduates. This research is a quantitative study that focuses on tracing the graduates of the History of Islamic Civilisation programme, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The results of the tracer study data processing are intended to see the absorption of graduates in the world of work based on suitability with the profile of graduates of the study programme, as well as their absorption in their field of work. The results showed that the percentage of graduates working in relevant fields reached 54%. Another 31% of the graduates decided to become entrepreneurs. The percentage of graduates who were not working was 15%. This remains to be seen, as it comes from the 2022-2023 graduates. Therefore, the socialisation of the profile of graduates to the community and graduate users needs to be improved.

Abstract

The Paderi Movement was an Islamic purification movement that emerged in 19th-century Minangkabau, influenced by Wahhabi teachings. This study aims to analyze the shift in the scientific orientation of the Paderi Movement regarding the development of Islam in Minangkabau, particularly in the context of social conflict, changes in religious structures, and contributions to the modernization of Islamic education. Data collection was conducted through a literature study using manuscripts and books written by Minangkabau scholars from the 19th to the 20th century, which serve as historical documents. The analysis employs historical methods, applying heuristic techniques, source criticism, interpretation, and writing, with a social science approach to examine historical understanding empathetically (verstehen). The findings indicate that the Paderi Movement had a significant impact on the development of Islam in Minangkabau. Despite its proselytization methods causing conflicts with traditionalist groups and Sufi orders, the movement successfully introduced a more Sharia-based interpretation of Islam and promoted the modernization of Islamic education. Thus, the Paderi Movement was not merely a socio-religious phenomenon but also played a crucial role in shaping the intellectual structure of Islam in Minangkabau.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengolah informasi dalam pembelajaran Mata Kuliah Sejarah Peradaban Islam di UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. Ketika dihadapkan pada suatu permasalahan, mahasiswa masih kesulitan dalam mengolah informasi secara efektif. Penelitian ini berfokus pada kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengintegrasikan informasi dari berbagai sumber selama proses pembelajaran. Untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam mengolah informasi dengan menerapkan media film sebagai alat bantu dalam pembelajaran Sejarah Peradaban Islam, yaitu film the Physician dan film the Kingdom of Heaven. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan mengacu pada desain yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan McTaggart. Pendekatan ini mencakup empat tahap utama, yaitu: perencanaan (plan), pelaksanaan tindakan (act), pengamatan (observing), dan refleksi (reflecting). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mengolah informasi mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan setelah diterapkannya media film dalam proses pembelajaran. Melalui penggunaan media film, mahasiswa menjadi lebih terbiasa dalam mengolah informasi yang diperoleh dari tayangan yang disajikan.
