Abstract

This article explains the governance process of a virtual donation movement initiated by graphic designers in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic called Font Creator Berbagi. This article aims to provide a deeper understanding of the management arrangements for the virtual donation movement, which is developing rapidly in the digital era. The novelty offered by this article is that it emphasizes studying the governance aspects of a social movement, which is more about material assistance, not skills training, which many graphic designers have previously done to channel their concerns during the pandemic. The qualitative method used in this research is a case study approach and data collection techniques through in-depth interviews whose questionnaires are based on the theory of POAC organizational management stages, according to George R. Terry. The research findings analyzed using the Miles and Huberman Model show that the Font Creator Berbagi movement has been successful in raising donations thanks to the stages that have been implemented, such as planning that is entirely aimed at charity, close organization by the community, implementation that prioritizes transparency, and supervision which focuses on digital infrastructure. Recommendations for similar social movements are to pay more attention to technical aspects, including choosing a more stable and reliable website hosting service to anticipate visits that exceed expectations. Apart from that, the potential for similar virtual donation movements will be increasingly being explored so further research opportunities can be opened.

Abstract

BUDAYA SILEK MINANGKABAU PADA FILM “SURAU DAN SILEK”.Pudarnya nilai budaya silek Minangkabau disebabkan oleh faktor internal dan eksternal dalam masyarakat tersebut. Faktor eksternal yang memengaruhi melibatkan lupa akan tradisi, yang tercermin dalam pandangan bahwa budaya silek semakin tertinggal dari perkembangan zaman dan kemajuan pemikiran. Di sisi lain, faktor internal melibatkan kesulitan menemukan guru silek dengan pemahaman mendalam dan pengetahuan yang matang, serta menurunnya minat generasi muda Minangkabau terhadap budaya ini. Arif Malinmudo menggambarkan nilai-nilai silek tersebut dalam film "Surau dan Silek," yang menyoroti unsur-unsur seperti salat, selawat, dan silek itu sendiri. Tujuan tulisan ini adalah menjelaskan representasi nilai budaya silek dalam film tersebut berdasarkan teori budaya J.J. Hoeningman, yang mencakup gagasan (ideologi), aktivitas (tindakan), dan artefak (karya). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui teknik dokumentasi, serta menganalisis data dengan menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian mencakup tiga aspek utama. Pertama, nilai ideologi yang terkandung dalam film melibatkan salat selawat dan silek sebagai nilai inti silek, dengan beberapa inti silek, banyak nasihat silek, dan pesan penulis. Kedua, aktivitas silek yang ditampilkan dalam film mencakup latihan dasar, latihan silek lebih mendalam, beberapa perguruan silek, dan adanya pertandingan silek. Ketiga, artefak silek yang muncul dalam film termasuk baju silek anak-anak, baju silek dewasa, dan kurambik sebagai senjata. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya komunikasi audiovisual, terutama nilai budaya silek Minangkabau, yang perlu dilestarikan dan dipelajari dari satu generasi ke generasi berikutnya.

Abstract

The success of the Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) in protecting and saving the Indonesian people from stopping illegal drug trafficking in 2021 has exceeded the target set. This can be realized thanks to preventive campaigns, including Instagram social media. This research aims to present the results of a semiotic analysis of visual content uploaded by BNN via the BNN Cegah Narkoba Instagram account (@bnn_cegahnarkoba) from January to June 2022 based on their success in reducing the rate of triggering and illicit circulation of drugs in Indonesia throughout 2021. The method used in this study is the triadic semiotic analysis by Charles Sanders Peirce, who interprets the relationship between objects through DKV elements, DKV principles, and typography in contents with a representamen that produces an interpretant. The results of this research show that the meaning of the BNN Cegah Narkoba’s campaign content tends to display anonymous visual representations of its audience and places more emphasis on preventive verbal messages. Additionally, visual associations to symbols of popular fictional characters are also used so that the range of impact can be even wider. This tendency is carried out based on compliance with media ethics and consideration of the target audience dominated by young people. Keywords: anti-drug campaign, BNN, Peirce’s semiotics

Abstract

Kotoran kambing adalah kotoran yang dihasilkan oleh kambing yang memiliki bentuk dan bau yang khas. Biasanya berbentuk lonjong dan berwarna hijau kehitaman. Berawal dari keresahan masyarakat perdesaan yang mengeluhkan limbah kotoran kambing yang menumpuk dan dipandang sebelah mata oleh masyarakat pada umumnya. Tujuan dari dibuatnya mesin ini diantaranya untuk mengetahui cara merencanakan alat penghancur kotoran kambing. Manfaat yang dapat diperoleh setelah membuat mesin penghancur ini adalah untuk mewujudkan mesin penggiling kotoran kambing dapat memaksimalkan pemanfaatan kotoran kambing dengan menjadikan pupuk kandang. Dalam perencanaan mesin penggiling kotoran kambing ini menggunakan metode french dimulai dari memperhitungkan perencanaan daya motor listrik, perhitungan poros, bearing, pasak, pulley, V-Belt, perancangan rangka, kekauatan las dan estimasi biaya. Berdasarkan perhitungan mesin yang didapat sebagai berikut : mesin menggunakan motor listrik 1,5 hp serta putaran 1400 rpm, mesin menggunakan sabuk V tipe A dengan ukuran diameter pulley besar 100 mm, dan diameter pulley kecil 75 mm, panjang keliling sabuk 875 mm, Poros menggunakan bahan ST37 dengan diameter 30 mm, Bantalan menggunakan jenis deep groove ball bearing dengan diameter 30 mm, pasak menggunakan bahan S40C dengan panjang 36 mm, bahan rangka besi siku 40 mm x 40 mm x 4 mm, pengelasan menggunakan jenis elektroda E60XX, dan kapasitas mesin 100kg/jam.

Abstract

This paper interprets the use of signs on the Bakpia Kukus Tugu Jogja packaging which is attractive, looks different,and has a strong influence on the audience's decision to buy the products. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of verbal and visual signs based on the theory of visual communication design contained on the front of the packaging design. The analysis units in this study are the visual communication design elements and principles which are grouped based on proximity in Gestalt theory. This study method uses Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic analysis which states that the relationship between signifier and the signified produces sign. The findings show that Bakpia Kukus Tugu Jogja uses the relationship between verbal and visual signs by displaying the meaning that the product has an identity in the form of modern and luxurious product innovations but does not forget the noble values of wise and equal Javanese culture.
