Abstract

Hospitals as providers of health services for the wider community are required to provide health services with good quality health services. The quality of hospital services can be achieved one of them with SBAR communication, so that the information conveyed can be informative and well received which will improve the handover process so that patient safety can be realized. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between effective SBAR communication and the quality of handover implementation in the Inpatient Room of JIH Solo Hospital. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The number of respondents was 90 respondents divided into 72 nurses and 18 midwives who were given observation sheets using the SBAR communication method and observation sheets for the quality of handover implementation. Variable correlation assessment using the chi-square test. The results of the analysis of the relationship between variables are significant with a sig value of 0.000 (p=0.05). Then, the value of the correlation coefficient between variables is very strong, namely 0.979. The use of effective SBAR communication resulted in the majority of respondents namely 79 people or 85.7% being categorized as qualified. In its implementation, the majority of respondents with a total of 87 people (196.7%) were categorized as qualified.

Abstract

Background: Spinal (subaracnoid) anesthesia is a regional anesthesia with the injection of local anesthetic drugs into the subarachnoid space. Spinal anesthesia can be given for procedures involving the lower limbs, pelvis, and perineum. Patients with spinal anesthesia are evaluated to determine whether or not the patient can be transferred to the ward. The indicator currently used is the Bromage Score, which is an indicator of the achievement of lower limb movement ability. The Bromage Score is an instrument for assessing the strength of the lower extremity muscles in patients after spinal anesthesia (Texas Children's Hospital, 2016). Full motion assessment score 0, unable to move the leg extremities score 1, unable to flex, but able to move the total leg score 2, unable to move the leg score 3. Purpose: To determine the effect of passive ROM exercises of the lower extremities with bromage score acceleration in post-spinal anesthesia patients. Research method: Using a quasi-experimental method with a posttest only control group design. The sample of this study amounted to 20 respondents, 10 respondents in the intervention group and 10 respondents in the control group. The intervention group performed passive ROM and the control group did not perform passive ROM. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling. The research instrument was an observation sheet, a watch. Results: The results of the statistical test used were Mann Whitney, after the P Value test = 0.000 (P Value <0.005). Conclusion: There is an influence between passive ROM exercises of the lower extremities and the acceleration of the bromage score in post-spinal anesthesia patients in the conscious recovery room.

Abstract

Sectio caesarea (SC) is a labor process in which the baby is removed from a mother's stomach by incision of the abdomen. Complications that often arise are nausea and vomiting. For nonpharmacological therapies include aromatherapy. Lemon aromatherapy has been widely used by women as much as 40% to relieve nausea, vomiting, and 26.5% of them have been reported as an effective way to control the symptoms of nausea, vomiting. Objective : to determine the effect of aromatherapy lemon essential oil nausea vomiting post sectio caesarea patients with spinal anesthesia at RST Slamet Riyadi Surakarta. Research Method : using quantitative research form one group pre-post test design. The study population was all secsio saesarea surgery patients with a sample of 30 respondents. The sampling technique is Purposive Sampling. Results : The effect of lemon essential oil aromatherapy on the response to nausea and vomiting in post-sectio caesarea patients with spinal anesthesia, in postoperative sectio caesarea patients with spinal anesthesia at RST Slamet Riyadi Surakarta (p <0.001 < 0.05) which means Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected.

Abstract

Shivering a complication that often occurs due to spinal anesthesia, due to postoperative hypothermia. Risk factors shivering include: age, weight, operating room temperature and anesthetic drugs. One of the nonpharmacologi was to reduce grade shivering is by giving hot packs and thick blankets to samples with temperatures < 35.5⁰C. This research to determine the effectiveness comparison between use of hot packs and thick blankets. The design Quasi Experiment with post test control group design. The population all post spinal anesthesia shivering patients in the IBS Recovery Room of RST Slamet Riyadi. The sample are 2 groups, shivering patient with hotpack treatment and shivering patient with thick blanket controls. The sample 32 respondents, 16 respondents treatment group and 16 respondents control group. Data analysis Mann Whitney statistical test. The results showed that p value = 0.008 < α = 0.05 ,that H0 is rejected Ha is accepted, that difference in the effectiveness of using hot packs with thick blankets on grade shivering in post spinal anesthesia patients in the recovery room.

Abstract

Shivering is one of the complications that often occurs after anesthesia due to impaired body thermoregulation. This condition can cause discomfort, increase oxygen consumption, and prolong the patient's recovery period. Education about shivering is very important for patients and families so that they understand the causes, risks, and how to handle it. This education program is carried out using a counseling method that involves educational media in the form of leaflets and demonstrations of effective handling techniques, such as the use of warm blankets, giving warm fluids, and relaxation techniques. Evaluation is carried out by measuring the level of understanding of patients and families before and after education, through a prepared questionnaire. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in understanding about shivering and how to handle it, both in theory and practice. This increase shows that the education provided is effective in increasing the readiness of patients and families in dealing with post-anesthesia shivering. This program is expected to reduce the negative impact of shivering and accelerate the patient's recovery process.

Abstract

Spinal anesthesia is a widely used anesthetic technique, particularly in surgeries involving the lower body, due to its effectiveness and safety profile. A critical component of post-spinal anesthesia recovery is the assessment of patient mobility, which can be quantitatively measured using the Bromage Score. The Bromage Score evaluates the degree of motor block, which is essential for determining when a patient can safely begin mobilizing after anesthesia. The education and implementation of the Bromage Score in hospitals are designed to enhance healthcare professionals' understanding of its significance, ensuring a more objective and systematic approach to patient recovery monitoring. This educational program involves a structured training session for healthcare workers, distribution of educational materials such as brochures and manuals, and evaluations both before and after the intervention to assess changes in knowledge and application. The results of the program indicate a significant increase in healthcare professionals’ understanding of how to apply the Bromage Score and improved quality in the monitoring of patient mobility after spinal anesthesia. The consistent and accurate implementation of the Bromage Score is crucial as it helps medical personnel determine an appropriate and safe time for patient mobilization, thus reducing the risk of complications such as falls, orthostatic hypotension, or delayed recovery. As a result, the program is recommended as a standard practice in healthcare settings to improve post-spinal anesthesia recovery outcomes and patient safety.
