Abstract

Shiitake mushrooms (Lentinula edodes) is edible mushrooms and medicinal mushrooms because they contain high nutrients and bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, phenols and terpenoids that can function as antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that are able to ward off free radicals in the body, although naturally the body can ward off free radicals through enzymatic (endogenous) antioxidants, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD). But if too many free radicals enter the body, it can cause oxidative stress so that endogenous antioxidants cannot work properly, so exogenous antioxidants are needed such as those found in ethanol extracts of L. edodes. One of the materials that can become free radicals is carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract of L.edodes on levels of SOD, in rats and determine the most effective dose of ethanol extract on increasing levels of SOD and blood catalase in rats induced by CCl4. This research carried out experimentally with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with variation of ethanol extract concentration (250; 500; 750 ppm). The results showed that the extraction of shiitake mushroom extract has an effect on increase in the levels of superoxide dismutase and catalase in rats induced carbon tetrachloride. The concentration of ethanol extract of 500mg/kg BW of rats was the most effective concentration for increasing superoxide dismutase and the ethanolic extract of L. edodes had antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Hypertension is still a problem in Indonesia and in other countries. Risk factors that cause hypertension pain rates are high total cholesterol levels. High cholesterol levels are experienced by many people with hypertension, will result in the formation of plaque that appears on the surface of the artery wall and has an impact on shrinking the diameter of blood vessels. The occurrence of blockages in blood vessels, which results in blood vessels having lumen (holes) then blood vessels will narrow and the elasticity of blood vessels can be reduced, this can cause hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension in patients at Level III Hospital 04.06.01 Wijaya Kusuma Purwokerto. The results showed that the degree of hypertension of patients at Level III Hospital 04.06.01 Wijaya Kusuma Purwokerto there were patients with grade II hypertension as much as 54.1%, patients with grade I hypertension as much as 45.9%. Cholesterol levels with a high risk in patients as much as 54.1%, moderate cholesterol levels as much as 45.9%. The p value on the chi-square test is 0.022 (p<0.05), Fhit > Ftable means that there is a significant relationship between cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) is a disease condition where there is a decrease in kidney function, no longer able to carry out its function of filtering the blood, removing toxins and unable to remove waste products from the blood effectively, characterized by the presence of protein in the urine and a decrease in the glomerular filtration rate. Hemodialysis is a kidney replacement therapy method that is often used to manage CKD. The prevalence of CKD in Indonesia continues to increase every year with some patients undergoing hemodialysis. CKD patients undergoing HD are susceptible to anemia. Anemia in CKD patients can be caused by blood loss during dialysis procedures, and disturbances in iron metabolism. The aim of the study was to analyze changes in hemoglobin levels in CKD patients after undergoing hemodialysis. The research was carried out in a descriptive observational manner through an initial screening stage, an examination stage by measuring hemoglobin levels before and after the hemodialysis session and readings using a Mindray BC-5830. The examination results showed that the hemoglobin levels of CKD patients increased after undergoing HD. Hemoglobin levels in male CKD patients were higher than female patients both before and after undergoing HD. The conclusion of this study is that HD has an effect on increasing hemoglobin levels in CKD patients, both female and male patients.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a lung infection caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Early detection is one of the ways to detect tuberculosis. The first detection of tuberculosis is with the Molecular Rapid Test, which is one of the technologies being developed using GeneXpert. Patients with positive Molecular Rapid Test results will be treated with rifampicin for 6 months, then further screening of Acid-Fast Bacilli microscopically will be carried out to determine whether the patient is still positive for pulmonary tuberculosis or not. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between acid-fast bacillus examination in tuberculosis patients with positive molecular rapid test results. This study will be conducted experimentally. The results of calculations using the Wilcoxon Test showed that there was a relationship between TCM examination results and BTA follow-up screening in TB patients after and before rifampicin treatment for 6 months.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by infection with the dengue virus which is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The main clinical manifestations of this disease can be an increase in body temperature ≥ 38°C for 2 - 7 days, bleeding which is usually preceded by the appearance of red spots (petechiae), headache, joint pain accompanied by leukopenia, lymphadenopathy, thrombocytopenia and hemorrhagic diathesis. Liver dysfunction is one of the consequences of dengue infection that often occurs in patients. The liver is the target organ of the dengue virus which often appears in the form of hepatomegaly and a mild-moderate increase in aminotransferase enzyme levels although jaundice and acute liver failure are rare. Dengue patients have an increase in SGOT and SGPT levels. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between dengue IgG levels and SGOT and SGPT in Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever patients at RSU Sinar Kasih Purwokerto. The type of research used is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was carried out using a consecutive sampling technique. Results were obtained from 100 samples with normal SGOT SGPT examination results, namely 10 patients and high results, namely 90 patients. The results of SGOT and SGPT examinations in dengue IgG positive patients increased >3 times which was included in category B and there was a significant relationship between SGOT and SGPT levels in Dengue IgG positive patients, with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a strong relationship between SGOT levels and SGPT with IgG examination results.
