Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning obstacles experienced by students in understanding the concept of set material through didactical learning approach. This type of research uses qualitative research. The research was conducted in class VII with a sample of 32 people. The data collection techniques include pretests and posttests of slices and combinations, as well as user response questionnaires by students to the didactical learning design of set material. The results of this study showed that didactical learning was able to minimize students' learning obstacles in understanding the concept of sets, namely the first learning obstacle decreased from 97% to 69% so that the first learning obstacle decreased by 28%. While the second learning obstacle decreased by 37.5%, namely from 87.5% decreased to 50%. And the third learning obstacle decreased from 34% to 19% so that the third learning obstacle decreased by 15%. Therefore, it can be concluded that didactical learning has the potential to identify and minimize learning obstacles experienced by students in understanding the concept of set material.

Abstract

Background: Sebagian besar siswa madrasah tsanawiyah di kabupaten kudus memiliki paradigma bahwa matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang abstrak sehingga sulit dipahami. Menangani kasus ini, peneliti memberikan solusi pelatihan model realistic mathematics education berbasis etnomatematika budaya islam lokal kudus. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru matematika dalam menerapkan model realistic mathematics education berbasis etnomatematika budaya islam lokal kudus. Metode: Kegiatan pelatiahan dilakukan melalui tiga siklus yakni, 1) siklus pelatihan, 2) siklus pembimbingan serta 3) siklus penerapan. Pelaksanaan siklus pelatihan dihadiri oleh 50 guru matematika dan 5 guru matematika menjadi sampel untuk siklus penerapan. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan analisis data yang dilakukan oleh peneliti, ditemukan bahwa ketercapaian tujuan pelatihan ini mencapai 3,625 dari 4 nilai total keseluruhan. Berdasarkan nilai yang didapatkan dari hasil observasi maka ketercapaian tujuan pelatihan ini berada dalam kategori sangat baik. Kesimpulan: Dengan demikian maka dari pelatihan disimpulkan guru dapat mendesain dan menerapkan model realistic mathematics education berbasis etnomatematika budaya islam lokal kudus di dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Education has an important role in the world of entrepreneurship and job creation. According to the results of the initial analysis carried out, students' entrepreneurial competence is relatively low, so there is a need for relevant entrepreneurship education in learning media that can increase students' entrepreneurial competence, one of which is the existence of Social Arithmetic Snakes and Ladders media for Increasing Edupreneurship. So this research aims to develop learning media and analyze the validation of design results for developing snakes and ladders learning media to increase student education in social arithmetic material. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) with the Thiagarajan 4D development model consisting of Define, Design, Development and Dissemination. The data collection technique used was validation questionnaires from material experts, media experts, edupreneurship experts, and student response questionnaires. The development results obtained are the Snake and Ladder Media product for increasing student education in social arithmetic material. The results of the research were obtained from the validation results of material experts getting a mean of 4.21, media experts getting a mean of 4.33, edupreneurship experts getting a mean of 4.71 and student responses through limited scale development trials with a mean score of 96%. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the media is declared very suitable for use as a mathematics learning medium to support the mathematics learning process and increase edupreneurship, especially at SMPN 2 Kaliwungu Kudus.

Abstract

Biodegradable foam can be used as an alternative packaging which is safe for health and environment. The raw material used to produce biofoam is starch. Taro consist of 67.42% starch. Contrarily, biofoam produced from starch has fragile mechanical properties. The addition of chitosan aims to improve the mechanical properties of biodegradable foam. Beside that, Chitosan is expected to reduce water absorption and increase tensile strength of biodegradable foam without reducing degradability. Biodegradable foam was synthesized by three steps, first step was isolation of starch from taro, second step was synthesis of biodegradable foam from taro starch-chitosan which used various concentration of chitosan to study the effect of chitosan addition for mechanical properties of biodegradable foam. Various concentration of chitosan was 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% (w/w). Third step was characterization of biodegradable foam.  The Analysis of biodegradable foam was carried out included FTIR functional group, mechanical properties, biodegradability and water absorption. The result showed that the best tensile strength test was 1% chitosan addition with a value of 3.75 MPa; based on water absorption test, the optimum sample was 4% chitosan addition with a value of 11.66%. The results of the functional group analysis of FTIR biodegradable foam contained of C=O (amide), CN, NH and OH groups which indicated the existence of chitosan in the sample.
