Abstract

In communicating its iconic glass bottle edition of Nutrisari Jeruk, Nutrisari released an attractive advertisement on October 7, 2023. This advertisement also marks Nutrisari's 45th anniversary. This advertising approach exploits longing and curiosity and evokes specific memories about when not everyone could enjoy this 'expensive' and 'exclusive' drink product. Tne could enjoy these 'expensive' and 'exclusive' beverage products. The copywriting also includes the importance of nostalgia, citing expert statements. By highlighting audience comments via Nutrisari's social media accounts, this article discusses the relatability of Nutrisari's nostalgic messages from the perspective of Komunikasi Berasa (experientially-meaningful communication) theory with its six dimensions (Wijaya, 2009): sensorial meaningfulness, emotional, rational, relevant, beneficial, and social. This study can be a reflection for brands in optimizing the meaningfulness of their campaign messages to be more connected and relevant to their consumer audiences.

Abstract

The conversion of mangroves into shrimp ponds occurred in the coastal area of Kampung Beting, Pantai Bahagia Village, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia, in the period 1990–2010. High income from shrimp ponds makes people ignore the ecological functions of mangrove forests, one of which is to prevent abrasion. However, since 2010, the destruction of hundreds of hectares of mangrove forests, worsened by climate change that hits almost the whole world, especially island countries like Indonesia, has submerged the shrimp ponds in Pantai Bahagia Village with sea water. Now, not only the shrimp ponds as their major income have disappeared, but also their living space is also threatened by severe abrasion. Gender inequality and the marginalized role of coastal women also make the socio-economic conditions of the community become worse. This study observes the role of women in Pantai Bahagia Village in responding to environmental and socio-economic problems in their area. This study uses a phenomenological approach, data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that women's empowerment plays a role in conserving critical land. Women's responses to environmental problems in their area include: 1) creating changes in women's awareness and behavior as an effort to repair and restore damaged mangrove land, and 2) carrying out activities to protect mangrove plants. Women's responses to socio-economic problems include 1) women's active involvement in productive economic activities 2) Utilization of non-timber mangrove products in processed food and crafts. Finally, this study recommends a concept to address critical coastal land issues, namely by involving women in various activities, both nature conservation and empowerment activities.

Abstract

Organic waste management is a strategic issue in promoting sustainable development, particularly in densely populated and industrial areas such as Bekasi Regency. This study aims to describe the innovation in organic waste utilization by PLTGU PT Cikarang Listrindo Tbk in supporting the food security program in Wanajaya Village. The key issues examined include the high volume of organic waste, its utilization potential, and the role of the industrial sector in sustainable waste management. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with data obtained through interviews, field observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that the company’s initiative to process organic waste into compost has significantly improved the quality and productivity of local organic farming. This innovation not only strengthens food security but also reduces farmers’ operational costs, and promotes active community participation in environmental management. The program demonstrates the tangible contribution of the private sector in supportingthe Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDGs Number 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDGs Number 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
