Abstract

This study aimed to know the derivational morphemes in Calum Scott Song from Bridge Album. Derivation is a part in linguistics. Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Derivational morpheme is part of morphology. Morphology means the smallest significant units of grammar. Morphology has two parts, there are derivational and inflectional. Derivational is related to affixes such prefixes, infixes, and suffixes, meanwhile inflectional is related to plural, possessive, progressive, pat time, comparative and superlative. Morphemes are divided into two parts, they are free morphemes and bound morphemes. Free morphemes are morphemes that can stand on their own, while bound morphemes that cannot stand with their own. This research focuses on derivational morphemes in Calum Scotts songs in the album Bridges. The songs in the album were used as the data of the research. This research used qualitative method and the result were some derivational morphemes found in the album Bridges. From 7 songs there are 4 prefix, such as re-, pre-, sur-, and a-, and some suffixes, such as -ent, -ion, -full, -ing, -ed, -ness, -less, -ly, -ment, -ian, -er, -y, -a.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has changed the way people interact and express their opinions on public policies, including the People's Housing Savings (Tapera) policy in Indonesia. People now primarily express their views openly on social media platforms like Twitter, generating a substantial amount of text data for analysis to understand public sentiment. However, the main challenge in this sentiment analysis is determining the most effective machine learning algorithm for classifying public opinion with high accuracy. This study aims to compare the performance of three machine learning algorithms, namely Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machine, and Random Forest, in analyzing public sentiment towards the Tapera policy. This study analyzes public comment data obtained from Twitter. We measure the accuracy of each algorithm to determine its optimal performance in sentiment classification. The research method consists of several stages, starting with data collection, text preprocessing to clean and prepare data, and then applying the three algorithms to analyze sentiment. The results showed that Naïve Bayes had the highest accuracy of 69.17%, followed by Support Vector Machine with an accuracy of 68.42%, and Random Forest with an accuracy of 66.17%. This shows that Naïve Bayes is the most effective algorithm to use in sentiment analysis of public comments related to the Tapera policy, especially in the context of complex text data from social media. The conclusion of this study is that Naïve Bayes is superior in classifying public sentiment towards the Tapera policy compared to Support Vector Machine and Random Forest. As a result, this study makes a significant contribution to selecting the most appropriate machine learning algorithm for public sentiment analysis towards public policy, which in turn can help the government understand and respond to public perceptions more effectively.

Abstract

Inflectional morphology is part of morphology which is the smallest significant unit of grammar. Morphology itself means the study of morphemes which are the smallest significant units of grammar. There are two parts in morphology here are: derivational morphology which is related to affixes such as suffixes, infixes, prefixes, ablaut and reduplication, meanwhile inflectional morphology which is related to plural, possessive, past time, progressive, and comparative and superlative. There are two kinds of morpheme; they are free morpheme and bound morpheme. Morpheme that can stand on their own are called free, and ones that cannot are bound. This research focused on inflectional morpheme in the lyrics of the Calum Scott’s Songs in the album Bridges. The lyrics in the album Bridges were used as the data of the research. Qualitative method was used as the method and the results were some inflectional morphemes found in the lyrics of the Calum Scott’s Songs in the album Bridges.
