Abstract

••• English ••• Nowadays, halal tourism and tourism trends are increasingly in demand in the world. Seeing this potential, countries, both non-Muslim and Muslim countries, have relatively developed halal tourism. In the development of halal tourism, there is relatively no uniformity and consensus regarding halal tourism both in the world and in Indonesia, so that sometimes it confuses the actors in the tourism industry. This research aims to describe halal tourism activities in Islamic fiqh which is a conceptual review that uses qualitative research methods through literature study. This research results is, halal tourism is a segment of the world tourism market whose growth is good in line with the continued growth of the world's Muslim population, the number of a middle class in countries where the population is predominantly Muslim, and the number of world Muslim tourists. This potential causes many countries in the world to focus on serving this tourism segment, both Muslim and non-Muslim countries. Unfortunately, until now there is no uniformity and consensus regarding terms, terminology, content, and requirements for halal tourism both in the world and in Indonesia. Halal tourism standards adopted and used by Indonesia and several other countries in the world today relatively refer to the standards made by the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), while the basic principles of fiqh in halal tourism in Indonesia are adopted from the Fatwa DSN-MUI No: 108/DSN-MUI/X/2016 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Tourism Based on Sharia Principles.

Abstract

This study analyzes the readiness level of Muslim-friendly tourism in the inhabited islands of the Thousand Islands using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) method. The focus of the research is on 11 inhabited islands with tourism potential, considering various halal tourism criteria according to the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) standards. The analysis was conducted through field surveys, stakeholder interviews, and documentary studies during the period of January-June 2024. The results show that the priority development sequence based on the ANP supermatrix is as follows: worship facilities, services, access, environment, and communication. Evaluations of key islands such as Tidung, Pramuka, Panggang, Kelapa, and Harapan reveal variations in the readiness of Muslim-friendly facilities and services. A SWOT analysis identifies key strengths, including the Muslim-majority population and the availability of mosques, while major weaknesses include limited infrastructure and a lack of halal certification. Development opportunities are supported by the global halal tourism trend and government support, but face threats from competition with other destinations and the impact of climate change. The study recommends a three-stage development strategy: short-term (facility mapping and basic training), medium-term (infrastructure development and halal certification), and long-term (integration with national halal tourism destinations and branding enhancement). Research limitations include access to secondary data, seasonal variations in visits, and dynamic policy changes.

Abstract

Field Work Practice Program is a form of university community service aimed at bridging the gap (link and match) between education and industry. The goal of this activity is to provide students with experience in a professional work environment and to enhance technical competencies, soft skills, and teamwork needed by industry. This community service journal aims to examine lecturer mentoring during student Field Work Practice Program, with the aim of making the Field Work Practice Program process more focused and providing greater benefits in improving student competencies, soft skills, and teamwork. The Field Work Practice activities for students in the Sharia Banking Study Program at the Islamic University of Depok were conducted at the branch offices of several National Banks and Sharia Rural Bank (Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah (BPRS)) in the Depok City area, involving sixth-semester students for one month in July and August 2025. The mentoring methods included initial briefing, observation, coaching, report writing, and evaluation of student learning performance. The results showed that the majority of students experienced improvements in their understanding of work processes, interdepartmental relationships, discipline, self-confidence, courage, adaptability and communication and teamwork skills. This Field Work Practice activity is considered effective as a means of helping improve the competency of university graduates who are ready to work.
