Abstract

••• English ••• Information technology that has developed so rapidly in recent years has directed the focus of large banks to digital services, including mobile banking. The internet's rapid growth is changing how companies connect with their customers, and the banking business is no exception. Of course, the concept of blessing must be prioritized by every Muslim, especially in banking institutions. This research aims to analyse the BSI Mobile application's existing mobile banking service system. In 2021, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) started to merge 3 (three) Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia, at the same time, to support the development of information technology (especially in banking), BSI has also created a BSI Mobile application to facilitate transactions. This research is qualitative research with a grounded research approach and uses a qualitative descriptive analysis method. However, even though the service system in the BSI Mobile application has met customer needs and is under the basic principles of sharia, many customers or the Muslim community who have not used it do not even know the system and application. Ultimately, it will impact applications that cannot be utilized optimally. Based on the results of research that the researcher have done, the BSI mobile banking service system should emphasize the publication and socialization of BSI Mobile products with various methods, including approaches that use sharia principles because legal regulations will be applied due to threats and legal causes that occur.

Abstract

Halal certification is mandatory for all Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Indonesia. Despite the vast number of MSEs, totaling 64.2 million as of February 2023, only about 20% have obtained halal certification. This study investigates the influence of legal awareness on halal certification registration among Indonesian MSEs and examines the moderating role of business duration. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a quantitative approach, the study assessed the impact of legal awareness constructs (knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and behavior) on halal certification awareness among 333 MSE respondents, with business duration included as a moderator. The findings revealed that legal knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and behavior did not significantly affect halal certification awareness, whereas business duration had a significant positive impact. Additionally, the moderation analysis demonstrated that business duration significantly influenced the relationship between legal understanding and halal certification awareness. The results suggest that experience, rather than legal comprehension, drives halal certification awareness among Indonesian MSEs. The study offers insights for policymakers to support longer-running businesses and simplify certification processes to increase halal certification rates among MSEs. Future research should consider using larger, more diverse samples and incorporating qualitative methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of MSEs’ motivations and challenges in obtaining halal certification.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Sertifikasi Halal untuk UKM di Indonesia: Peran Durasi Usaha dalam Mendorong Kesadaran Hukum.

Pesantren Darussalam Gontor is one of the oldest and most prominent pesantren in Indonesia, known for its excellent education system and teaching quality. To ensure the sustainability of its development, Gontor implements the Panca Jangka concept as a long-term development plan. This paper employs literature review and content analysis to examine the Panca Jangka concept implemented in Pesantren Gontor and its impacts on the advancement of the boarding school. Relevant data regarding Pesantren Gontor were gathered from various literature. Panca Jangka consists of five key aspects; education and teaching, cadre training, facilities establishment, self-financing, and the welfare of the pesantren community. Its implementation has brought significant positive impacts, such as improvement in educational quality, the establishment of a nationally accredited university, and economic empowerment of the surrounding community. Comprehensively, Panca Jangka plays a vital role in advancing Pesantren Gontor and contributing to the development of pesantren in Indonesia. Abstract

Homo economicus and homo islamicus are two concepts of human economic behavior that stem from different intellectual backgrounds. This paper aims to conduct a critical comparative analysis on the fundamental assumptions of the two concepts. The research method is qualitative, drawing upon key literature from Western and Islamic schools of thought. The results show that homo economicus and homo islamicus differ significantly in terms of underlying principles, motivations, and moral considerations. Homo economicus is driven by self-interest and narrow rationality, while homo islamicus is guided by the framework of Islamic values. These differences have implications on how the two concepts view systems of production, consumption, and distribution. However, the concepts can complement each other in providing a more comprehensive understanding of human economic behavior. The study suggests the need for integrating or synthesizing diverse perspectives in formulating a multidimensional and culturally inclusive analytical framework of economic behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the consumption theories of John Maynard Keynes, a conventional economist, and Monzer Kahf, an Islamic economist. The main objective is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each approach while emphasizing how both theories contribute to economic growth and stability. This study uses a qualitative methodology, thoroughly analyzing primary and secondary sources on the works of both economists. Through comparative analysis, this study evaluates the core concepts and assumptions of each theory. The findings show that Keynes' approach is concerned with individual consumption and its impact on savings and economic growth, while Kahf's theory encourages consumption for the collective good in accordance with Islamic principles. The study concludes that combining elements of both theories can offer a more balanced approach, which at the same time enhances social welfare and economic stability.

Abstract

Capitalization has forced the market to become increasingly accessible. Economic interdependence has been created and has become a principle of economics that most countries embrace. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method and a literature review to analyze opportunities and challenges that can be used as lessons for Indonesia as the holder of the ASEAN chairmanship in 2023. This method will be applied by studying related issues in various journals, books, reports and news. The collapse of the SVB significantly impacted the fall of American stocks, which subsequently affected the closure of banks inside and outside America. The implications of this phenomenon reflect ASEAN as an organization that seeks to create a stable and secure economy in the region. As the Chair of ASEAN 2023, Indonesia has many opportunities and challenges that can be taken from the fall of the banking industry in America while implementing a digital economy in the ASEAN region.
