Abstract

The cat's whiskers plant is empirically used by the community for the treatment of gout and rheumatism. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the anti-inflammatory power of cat's kumis (Orthosihon stamineus Benth) leaf extract. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one-way completely randomized design. Kumis Kucing leaf extract was extracted using 70% ethanol. A total of 25 male wistar rats aged 2-3 months, weighing 150-200g were divided into 5 groups. Each group was treated orally with distilled water (negative control), diclofenac sodium 2.25 mg/kg BW (positive control). Kumis leaf ethanol extract tested at doses of 123, 245 and 490 mg/kgBB. Treatment 1 hour before the feet of rats were inflamed with 1% sublantar carrageenin. Measurements of the rat's foot volume were carried out every 0.5 hours for 6.5 hours. The obtained average edema volume curve is used to calculate AUC (Area Under The Curve) and the obtained AUC is used to calculate DAI (Anti-Inflammatory Power). The AUC and DAI data were tested statistically with one way Anava and followed by LSD with a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Kumis Kucing leaves had an anti-inflammatory effect on male white rats of the Wistar strain. Kumis Kucing ethanol extract at doses of 123, 245 and 490 mg/kg BW yielded 33.11%; 52.64% and 64.12% respectively. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Kumis Kucing leaves had an anti-inflammatory effect on male white rats of the Wistar strain. Kumis Kucing ethanol extract at doses of 123, 245 and 490 mg/kg BW yielded percent anti-inflammatory properties of 33.11%; 52.64% and 64.12%, respectively. Abstract

Based on the findings of the researchers, there were 5 young women in the Working Area of the Sindar Raya Health Center, Simalungun Regency, experiencing vaginal discharge. This research was conducted to find out whether there is a relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of young women towards preventive measures for vaginal discharge in the Working Area of the Sindar Raya Health Center, Simalungun Regency, in 2017. This type of research is descriptive with the population in this study being all young women in the Working Area of the Sindar Raya Health Center, Regency Simalungun in 2017, namely 108 people who were sampled as many as 85 people using the simple random sampling technique, which is a simple random sampling method. The results of this study showed that the majority had good knowledge, namely 42 people (49.4%), while the minority had less knowledge, namely 17 people (20%). The majority had an attitude of agreeing, namely 58 people (68.2%), while a minority had an attitude of disagreeing, namely 27 people (31.8%). The majority had good leucorrhoea prevention measures as many as 57 people (67.1%) while the minority had bad leucorrhoea prevention measures as many as 28 people (32.9%). From the results of the chisguare test it can be concluded that knowledge has a relationship with preventive measures for the occurrence of vaginal discharge in the Working Area of the Sindar Raya Health Center, Simalungun Regency in 2017. Abstract

Free radicals are compounds or molecules that contain one or more unpaired electrons in their outer orbitals. If the production of free radicals is excessive, it can cause oxidative damage which ends in cell death resulting in the acceleration of various degenerative diseases. To neutralize the work of free radicals, external antioxidants are needed. Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC) is a source of natural antioxidants that contain flavonoids that can neutralize free radicals. This research included sample preparation, examination of simplicia characteristics, screening of simplicia phytochemicals, extract preparation, determination of SOD activity spectrophotometrically using reagents. A total of 30 rats were divided into 6 groups consisting of the control group, the stress-induced group, the comparison group, and the three stress-induced and EEBA groups with doses of 75 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg, and 300 mg respectively. /kg bw. Stress induction was carried out by administering EEBA for 7 days and continued by administering EEBA together with doxorubicin for the next 2 days. The results showed that the average SOD level in the control group was (4.626 0.2583), the doxorubicin group (1.956+ 0.0879), the EEBA group 75 mg kg body weight (2.444 0.0844), the EEBA group 150 mg/kg body weight ( 3.052 +0.1139), the EEBA 300 mg/kg body weight (3.646+0.1739) and the Routine 50 mg/kg body weight 5.594 + 0.2056), EEBA had higher SOD activity when compared to the doxorubicin group. Based on the statistical results, SOD activity increased with the increase in the dose of EEBA given and showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between the EPBA group and the doxorubicin group. Observations on liver tissue in the group given EEBA showed better conditions than the liver in the doxorubicin group.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder caused by impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance, or a combination of both. Controlling blood sugar levels is the main thing for DM sufferers, one of which is with diet/nutrition therapy.
