Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects taught in formal educational institutions, which is an important part of efforts to improve the quality of education. Students' adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics is reflected through their critical, logical, and systematic thinking, and their objective, honest, and disciplined nature in solving problems, whether in mathematics, other subjects, or daily life. This study aims to evaluate the adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics of middle school students. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 14 students from SMPIT Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyyah Karawang, grouped into five levels: very high, high, medium, low, and very low. Data were collected from the tests on adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics to understand the students' reasoning abilities. Scores were given to students who answered each question based on the indicators achieved. The highest percentage was obtained on the indicator of forming conjectures, at 48.21%, while the lowest rate was 3.57% on the indicator of finding patterns in a mathematical phenomenon. Overall, the average results for each indicator were: Indicator 1 - 48.21%, Indicator 2 - 26.79%, Indicator 3 - 35.71%, Indicator 4 - 8.93%, and Indicator 5 - 3.57%. Therefore, the average percentage of student achievement in answering the adaptive reasoning ability test in mathematics was 24.64%. It can be concluded that middle school students' mastery of adaptive reasoning ability in mathematics is categorized as low.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis service takes the theme of currency introduction which is motivated by the importance of a student knowing money because money is a medium of exchange that is closely related to daily life. The media used in this activity are props / manipulative currency which consists of metal and paper money and displays from the smallest to the largest value. The purpose of this Abdimas activity is to introduce the types of money and practice their use. This Abdimas activity was carried out in one of the Inclusion schools in Karawang City. The methods used in this activity are in the form of discussions, lectures, mentoring and demonstrations of the use of money as a tool for buying and selling. The results obtained from this Abdimas activity are that students feel happy in learning money calculations using interesting props / manipulatives so that they are able to perform basic calculation operations using money. This media can attract students' attention, so that in its implementation it can run well and students quickly understand it. The school is happy with this activity and as a motivation for teachers to create interesting media for learning both mathematics and other subjects.Keywords: currency, manipulative moneyABSTRAKPengabdian ini mengambil tema pengenalan mata uang yang dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya seorang siswa mengenal uang karena uang merupakan alat tukar yang sanagt erat hubungannya dengan kehidupan sehari hari. Media yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu alat peraga/manipulatif mata uang yang mana terdiri dari berupa uang logam dan kertas serta menampilkan dari yang bernilai terkecil hingga besar. Tujuan dari kegiatan Abdimas ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan jenis-jenis uang dan praktek penggunaanya. Kegiatan Abdimas ini dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah Inkliusi di Kota Karawang. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah berupa diskusi, penyuludan, pendampingan dan demonstrasi penggunaan uang sebagai alat untuk jual beli. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan Abdimas ini yaitu siswa merasa senang dalam belajar perhitungan uang dengan menggunakan  alat peraga/manipulatif yang menarik sehingga mereka mampu melakukan operasi perhitungan dasar dengan menggunakan uang. Media ini dapat menarik perrhatian siswa , sehingga dalam pelaksnaanya dapat berjalan dengan baik dan siswa cepat memahaminya. Sekolah merasa senang dengan adanya kegiatan ini dan sebagai motivasi untuk para guru untuk membuat media yang menarik untuk pembelajaran baik matematika maupun pelajaran lainnya.Keywords: Mata uang, alat peraga uang
