Abstract

The main problems that often occur in people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) are stress and an increase in blood sugar. Uncontrolled stress for a long time can lead to an increase in blood sugar levels, which can lead to various complications. One of the physical activities that can be done with relaxation is Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is an intervention that can be done in people with diabetes. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) on increasing stress and blood sugar levels. The research design used a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-post-test control group design approach. The sample consisted of 36 respondents who were divided into 18 intervention groups and 18 control groups. The group was given a therapeutic intervention for 1 week with a duration of 2 times a day, namely in the morning and afternoon for 10-15 minutes. The instruments used are a glucometer, blood sugar level observation sheet, and Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS) questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test and Paired t-test to see pair data. Then for the research group, the data used the Man-Whitney Test. The results showed that there was a significant effect on decreasing blood pressure (p=0.013) and that there was an effect on decreasing blood sugar levels (p=0.034). Conclusion: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) affects reducing stress and blood sugar levels in Type 2 DM patients.

Abstract

Pesticides are toxic chemical compounds used to control agricultural plant pests. Intense use of pesticides and not paying attention to standards for their use can have negative effects on farmers' health. The aim of this research is to identify the behavior of using chemical pesticides that pose a risk to the health of horticultural farmers in the agricultural area of West Seram Regency. Method: This type of research is descriptive quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. The population of this study were all horticultural farmers in West Seram Regency who used chemical pesticides, and the sample taken was 650 respondents based on the inclusion criteria, namely actively spraying chemical pesticides and a minimum work period of 25 years. Data collection instruments used questionnaires and observation. Data analysis uses statistical tools to describe the activities of farmers using pesticides. The results of the research show that the dominant risky behavior in using chemical pesticides and disrupting farmers' health is the behavior of not using personal protective equipment for 602 (92.6%) respondents and the behavior of using doses that do not comply with the standard for 547 (84.2%) respondents and mixing the number of types. chemical pesticides of more than 3 types as many as 546 (84%) respondents. Meanwhile, the dominant health complaints felt by farmers were skin disorders as many as 621 respondents and tremor complaints as many as 572 respondents, followed by other health complaints. In conclusion, farmers' behavior does not follow standards for pesticide use, which poses a risk to health. Suggestion; Farmers must use chemical pesticides wisely according to specified standards and must be equipped with knowledge about how to use pesticides correctly and the negative impacts on health.

Abstract

Nutmeg belongs to the Myristicaceae family which consists of 15 genera and 250 species. Nutmeg has several benefits for body health, namely, Improving brain health, Overcoming digestive problems, Maintaining oral health, Treating insomnia. Escherichia coli is a bacterial name taken from the name of the person who discovered it, Theodor Escherich. This study aims to determine the comparison of antibacterial activity of forest nutmeg pulp, peel and leaf extract (Myristica schifferi Warb) against Escherichia coli.: The research method used is the agar diffusion method. The results of the antibacterial activity test of the flesh and skin of forest nutmeg (Myristica schifferi Warb) against Escherichia coli bacteria with concentrations of 50%, 75% and 100% were declared sensitive to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. Meanwhile, the results of the forest nutmeg leaf test with a concentration of 50% were declared intermediate or medium category to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria, for concentrations of 75% and 100% were declared sensitive to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria.
