Abstract

This research discusses the Yemen conflict that was originally internal and then transformed into an international conflict due to the externalization process. The author sees that the increasingly complex development of the Yemen conflict was affected by the intervention of external actors in the conflict. This research aims to find out how Yemen's internal conflict transformed into an international conflict using the analytical framework of the Internationalization of Conflict Theory. Therefore, in examining the externalization of Yemen's internal conflict, the author uses the concept of escalation, with qualitative research methods. The research results show that the externalization of Yemen's internal conflict is demonstrated through the involvement of external actors such as Saudi Arabia and its coalition, the United States, Britain, France, Iran, and ISIS. In this case, the escalation of the Yemen conflict occurred because of the geographical proximity between Yemen and several countries such as Saudi Arabia, the similarity of identity or ideology between internal parties and external parties who intervened in the Yemen conflict, as well as the opportunities and interests of foreign parties in the Yemen conflict.

Abstract

The water scarcity crisis in Iraq has become a non-traditional security issue that threatens the country's social, political and economic stability. According to international data, water scarcity is predicted to worsen by 2030, affecting more than 700 million people worldwide. Iraq, which depends on the flow of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, is experiencing a decline in water quality and quantity that is worsening agricultural conditions, increasing social tensions and causing internal migration. This article analyzes the Iraqi government's efforts to address the water crisis through diplomacy by joining the Paris Agreement and the UN Water Convention, as well as organizing the Baghdad International Water Conference. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to explore the impact of water scarcity in Iraq and the diplomatic responses undertaken for mitigation. Although formal diplomacy has resulted in international aid and mitigation projects, climate change impacts and domestic governance issues, such as corruption, hamper the effectiveness of such efforts. This article also suggests the need for non-formal diplomacy involving non-state actors to improve the effectiveness of solving the water crisis in Iraq.

Abstract

Abstract

Religious diversity in Indonesia is often challenged by the potential for conflict based on ethnic, religious, racial, and intergroup differences (commonly referred to as SARA). However, amid frequent incidents rooted in such tensions, the village of Toabo in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi, stands out as a success story in maintaining social harmony. This has been achieved through its effective implementation of religious moderation within a diverse community. This study examines the key factors that have contributed to the success and sustainability of Toabo as a Village of Religious Moderation. Employing a qualitative analytical case study approach, data were collected through literature review and interviews with local residents, religious leaders, and government officials. The findings reveal that the availability of worship facilities for all religious groups, interfaith participation in social and religious activities, the active roles of religious leaders and village authorities in fostering harmonious relations, equitable distribution of power, and the integration of religious moderation values into the school curriculum are among the critical factors contributing to Toabo's success and sustainability as a model of religiously moderate community living.

Abstract

The global power structure has shifted from a unipolar system to multipolarity, marked by the emergence of new powers such as China and Russia and the strengthening of regional cooperation. In this context, the role of Global South countries is becoming increasingly important in shaping a new, more inclusive world order. This study highlights how Indonesia constructs and projects its identity and leadership as a representation of the Global South in the multipolar era. The purpose of the study is to analyze the construction of Indonesia's identity and the diplomatic practices used in forums such as the G20 and BRICS to advocate the interests of developing countries. This study uses a qualitative method with an interpretive approach, based on an analysis of official speeches, diplomatic documents, and scientific literature. Theoretically, this study is based on the constructivism of international relations, especially Alexander Wendt's ideas about the importance of identity and norms in shaping state interests. The results show that Indonesia actively uses normative diplomacy, historical narratives, and multilateral engagement to strengthen its position as a leader of the Global South and encourage reforms to a more just and equal global order
