Abstract

Bauxite is one of the most mined minerals in the world and plays an important role as a raw material for aluminum production. The implementation of bauxite downstream policy has an impact on the expansion of bauxite mining area and bauxite post-mining land. The expansion of mining activities can cause an increase in the impact of environmental damage, one of which is the emergence of critical land in post-mining areas. Bauxite post-mining land often experiences problems with soil physical and chemical properties, which cause soil unable to support growth and fulfill plant nutrition needs. Alternatives that can be implemented is the use of adaptive plant seedball and Fly Ash-Bottom Ash (FABA) enriched compost utilization as ameliorant material. Post-mining land reclamation technology is the key to achieve successful reclamation and support the optimization of sustainable bauxite downstream programs in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of technology and information systems is currently growing very rapidly, most small, medium, and large organizations and companies have used it to support and facilitate their business processes. “Latina Bakery” is one of the business entities that is currently facing significant challenges in facing increasingly competitive market competition. Latina Bakery has implemented SI/TI to support the success of the store's vision and mission, but in its application, many of the systems used are still not effective and efficient. The main challenges faced lie in two fundamental aspects: First, limitations in the utilization of adequate technological infrastructure, and second, not optimal management and utilization of data to support business decision-making. This condition causes difficulties in adapting and competing amid market dynamics that continue to snowball. To overcome these problems, this research implements the Ward and Peppard methodology, a comprehensive approach consisting of: SWOT analysis (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities, and Threats), Value Chain Analysis, McFarlan Analysis, and Five Forces Model Analysis. The main objective of this research is to produce an in-depth analysis to formulate an Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/TI) strategy aligned with the vision, mission, and business objectives. It can be a recommendation to move away from the business.

Abstract

Abstract

The implementation of organic farming in peatland coconut plantations faces challenges such as the low availability of natural nutrients, restrictions on the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and the demand for soil fertility conservation to ensure sustainable production. One potential solution is the utilization of undergrowth pruning, predominantly composed of Nephrolepis sp., as a source of organic nutrients. This study aimed to determine the decomposition rate and estimate the nutrient release potential from undergrowth pruning in a coconut plantation on peat soil in Riau Province, Indonesia. The litter bag method was employed with an observation period of eight weeks. Results showed that the decomposition rate of the pruned biomass reached 1.92 g per week, with a dry weight reduction of 68%. The most abundant nutrients released during decomposition were potassium (1.79%), phosphorus (0.07%), and copper (5.68 ppm). These findings suggest that undergrowth pruning has the potential to serve as an alternative nutrient source, supporting environmentally friendly coconut cultivation systems on peatlands.

Abstract

The "Dosen Pulang Kampung" (Lecturer Goes Home) program is a community service effort conducted by IPB University aimed at contributing knowledge and technology to rural communities. In this activity, the authors introduced Zeoponic planting media to horticultural farmers in Mojosongo District, Boyolali. Zeoponic, a zeolite-based planting medium, is designed to address the high electrical conductivity (EC) problems in traditional planting media, which often hinder nutrient absorption. With zeolite content, Zeoponic has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC), maintaining EC and moisture stability, thus supporting optimal seedling growth. The activity was carried out in three stages: a theoretical session explaining the concept and benefits of the medium, a demonstration of its preparation directly by the farmers, and an evaluation through discussions as well as pre-test and post-test to assess participants’ knowledge improvement. A total of 30 farmers from local farmer groups in Mojosongo participated in the program. Results showed that Zeoponic could improve the quality of horticultural plant seedlings and has great potential for adoption by local farmers. This program is expected to support sustainable agriculture and enhance the welfare of farmers.

Abstract

Electrical conductivity (EC) spikes due to fertilization are harmful to plant. This shows the need for appropriate composition of growing media, such as Zeoponic, consisting of zeolite, cocopeat, and compost, to support plant development. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of zeolite-based growing media and the addition of fertilizer on growth of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) cultivated in polybags. The experiment was conducted on beans in three different media with a completely randomized design (CRD) in factorial arrangement, with three levels type treatment (zeoponic, media A, and B), and three levels of fertilizer dosage (0 g kg-1, 1 g kg-1, 1.5 g kg-1). The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, beans weight, length, and disease intensity. The results showed that growth and production of beans in zeoponic tended to be higher than in A and B. However, the addition of fertilizer at 1.5 g kg-1 did not significantly affect growth and production of beans. The presence of zeolite caused EC of the growing media to remain low, and nutrients were released slowly to ensure continuous availability to plant. Additionally, the use of zeoponic for cultivating beans in polybags has been shown to reduce the incidence of disease.
