Abstract

In an era where information technology has become an integral part of everyday life, the use of computers in the workplace has become the norm. Employees spend hours in front of computer screens to complete their tasks. However, a less recognized impact of prolonged exposure to computer devices is health problems, especially neck, shoulder and back pain. Ergonomics issues in computer use have become a major concern in today's work environment. This PKM activity aims to increase awareness of ergonomics in the workplace and overcome neck pain in workers who use computers regularly. Involving 45 participants, this activity focused on providing education that prioritizes ergonomic principles. Through presentations, discussions and live demonstrations, participants are provided with an in-depth understanding of the importance of correct work posture and the practical implementation of ergonomics principles in daily work routines. Initial assessment results showed that the majority of participants had unergonomic working postures. However, after participating in this activity, there was a significant increase in their understanding of ergonomics and awareness of the importance of correct posture in the workplace. The ergonomic solutions presented, such as chair arrangement, monitor position, and use of ergonomic accessories, were welcomed by participants as real steps in reducing neck pain. This article emphasizes the importance of awareness and practical application of ergonomics in the workplace to improve work health and comfort. It is hoped that this service can make a real contribution in reducing health problems such as neck pain in workers who use computers intensively, as well as improving the quality of their work

Abstract

Heart disease is recognized globally as a leading cause of death, demanding innovative prevention strategies to reduce the risk of heart disease. One promising approach is the use of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), which offers an alternative treatment to combat this disease. In the context of health promotion, media, particularly video, has emerged as an effective tool for raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of better health practices. This study was conducted at one of the hospitals in Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang Regency focused on the influence of health promotion via video on the use of TOGA by heart disease patients. Using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pre-test and Post-test design, this study involved 38 heart disease patients selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using a paired sample t-test, showing a significant increase in the use of TOGA after health promotion through video media, with the average score increasing from 13.97 to 17.42. The research findings show a p value = 0.000 which confirms that health promotion through video media has a positive impact on the use of TOGA among heart disease patients. This suggests that video, as a health information tool, has great potential to increase acceptance and implementation of TOGA not only among heart disease patients but also in the wider community, offering an effective and accessible strategy to support heart health.

Abstract

Fires often come without warning, presenting unexpected risks for firefighters who must remain alert while on duty. This profession is classified as a job that is full of high risks, and the level of risk faced is closely related to the implementation of an occupational health and safety (K3) management system. This research uses a quantitative analytical survey approach with a cross-sectional design to explore the relationship between the implementation of an K3 management system and the risk of accidents among firefighters. In this study, 36 officers were selected as samples using the random sampling method. Primary data was obtained through questionnaires filled out by respondents and assessment sheets prepared by researchers. Data analysis used the chi-square test with a confidence level of 95% (? = 0.05). Rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) occurs if the p value <0.05, which concludes that there is a significant relationship. Research findings show that as many as 30 field officers (83.3%) are within the scope of the K3 management system which is categorized as poor. There is a significant relationship between the implementation of the K3 management system and the risk of accidents (p=0.000). In order to minimize the risk of work accidents, increasing awareness and discipline of officers in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is very important. It is hoped that the findings from this research can become a basis for related parties to make system improvements and increase the safety of firefighters in the future. Efforts to increase awareness of the importance of K3 and the use of PPE are expected to reduce the risk of accidents and better protect officers as they carry out their duties to protect the public from the dangers of fire.
