Abstract

In an era where information technology has become an integral part of everyday life, the use of computers in the workplace has become the norm. Employees spend hours in front of computer screens to complete their tasks. However, a less recognized impact of prolonged exposure to computer devices is health problems, especially neck, shoulder and back pain. Ergonomics issues in computer use have become a major concern in today's work environment. This PKM activity aims to increase awareness of ergonomics in the workplace and overcome neck pain in workers who use computers regularly. Involving 45 participants, this activity focused on providing education that prioritizes ergonomic principles. Through presentations, discussions and live demonstrations, participants are provided with an in-depth understanding of the importance of correct work posture and the practical implementation of ergonomics principles in daily work routines. Initial assessment results showed that the majority of participants had unergonomic working postures. However, after participating in this activity, there was a significant increase in their understanding of ergonomics and awareness of the importance of correct posture in the workplace. The ergonomic solutions presented, such as chair arrangement, monitor position, and use of ergonomic accessories, were welcomed by participants as real steps in reducing neck pain. This article emphasizes the importance of awareness and practical application of ergonomics in the workplace to improve work health and comfort. It is hoped that this service can make a real contribution in reducing health problems such as neck pain in workers who use computers intensively, as well as improving the quality of their work

Abstract

Heart disease is recognized globally as a leading cause of death, demanding innovative prevention strategies to reduce the risk of heart disease. One promising approach is the use of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA), which offers an alternative treatment to combat this disease. In the context of health promotion, media, particularly video, has emerged as an effective tool for raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of better health practices. This study was conducted at one of the hospitals in Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang Regency focused on the influence of health promotion via video on the use of TOGA by heart disease patients. Using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pre-test and Post-test design, this study involved 38 heart disease patients selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using a paired sample t-test, showing a significant increase in the use of TOGA after health promotion through video media, with the average score increasing from 13.97 to 17.42. The research findings show a p value = 0.000 which confirms that health promotion through video media has a positive impact on the use of TOGA among heart disease patients. This suggests that video, as a health information tool, has great potential to increase acceptance and implementation of TOGA not only among heart disease patients but also in the wider community, offering an effective and accessible strategy to support heart health.

Abstract

The implementation of occupational safety principles plays a very important role for officers who handle B3 medical waste, considering that they interact directly with hazardous and toxic materials. This effort aims to create a safe, healthy, and pollution-free work environment, so as to minimize the occurrence of work accidents and health problems due to exposure in the workplace. This study uses a qualitative approach with the aim of exploring in depth the implementation of occupational safety in B3 medical waste processing officers at the Pagar Merbau Health Ceter, Deli Serdang Regency. There were three informants in this study, and data were obtained through observation and in-depth interviews. The results of the study showed that the implementation of occupational safety in the field has not been running optimally. One of the main obstacles is the lack of consistency of officers in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Based on these results, it is recommended that K3 officers be more intensive in providing direction and supervision of the use of PPE and the implementation of work procedures according to applicable standards. This is important to ensure the safety and comfort of work for officers involved in the management of B3 medical waste.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health is an important aspect in optimal growth and development, but mental health literacy among students is still low. This community service activity aims to improve students' mental health literacy through interactive education at SMA Muhammadiyah 16 Lubuk Pakam. The method used is a participatory education approach with a combination of pretest-posttest, discussion, games, and educational videos. The activity was carried out in May 2025 involving 30 grade XI students who were selected purposively. The pretest results showed that only 33% of students had a good understanding of mental health. After the intervention, there was a significant increase, with 90% of students reaching the "good" category and the average score increasing from 39.6 to 92.0. Qualitative evaluation showed that 83% of students felt better able to recognize symptoms of stress, and 70% were interested in forming regular discussion groups. This activity also encouraged students' openness to counseling and received appreciation from the school. The discussion emphasized that interactive-based education is effective in increasing understanding and positive attitudes towards mental health. However, the limited duration of the activity is an obstacle in deepening the material. Therefore, it is recommended that similar programs be conducted periodically and integrated into the school guidance and counseling system through peer counselor training and mental health clubs. Overall, this educational approach proves that schools can be a strategic place to build psychological literacy in adolescents systematically and sustainably.

Abstract

Zoom fatigue is fatigue, anxiety, or worry resulting from overuse of virtual video conferencing platforms. Teachers who spend more time a day with online teaching activities experience significantly more stress, which can cause teachers to experience Zoom fatigue events. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were all teachers at public senior high school 1 Lubuk Pakam, totaling 74 teachers and a sample of 42 teachers. The data was collected using questionnaires and interviews and the data was processed using the chi-square test which aims to determine the factors associated with the occurrence of Zoom fatigue in teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that there was a relationship between the variable length of exposure and the incidence of Zoom fatigue (0.011) < (0.05), a relationship between the technology problem variable and the incidence of Zoom fatigue (0.022) < (0.05) and the relationship between student factor variables and incidence of Zoom fatigue (0.005) < (0.05).Teachers said that they felt physically and emotionally exhausted while teaching online using the Zoom. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration by teachers to take time to stretch for 10-20 minutes after online teaching activities and provide time for the body and mind to rest for a moment looking at the computer/laptop screen.
