Abstract

The phrase "digital native," which is used almost universally to describe the use of technology by today's teachers and students, is laden with debate both regarding its meaning and how it should be measured. The Digital Natives Assessment Scale (DNAS) was established, developed, and validated to assess "digital nativeness." This study contributes to the ongoing dispute regarding the validity of the DNAS, which Wilson (2020) had previously reported in the literature. Seventy-eight Indonesian secondary school teachers joined the survey and two of the respondents were invited to join the semi-structured interview. The findings of the study provided the data for the examination of how the DNAS addresses the factors that contribute to digital nativeness. The results from the DNAS corroborated Wilson's claim that the DNAS may not address the features of digital natives. This study recommends that future research in the realm of educational technology and beyond should concentrate on different ways of conceiving the concept of digital natives.

Abstract

Given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutions have to adapt to a new approach to enable students to engage in remote learning. To ensure a seamless learning experience for students, educational institutions have been adopting a blended or hybrid learning approach. This narrative ethnography explores the dynamics of student engagement within the context of hybrid learning, unveiling a post-pandemic educational landscape. By synthesizing qualitative data in the form of personal stories, this study aims to provide educators, administrators, and policymakers with valuable insights to enhance the quality and inclusivity of hybrid learning experiences in the aftermath of the global pandemic, shedding light on the strategies that foster effective student engagement in a hybrid learning environment.    The findings demonstrate that cognitive, social, and emotional engagement in hybrid learning involves collaborative teaching and learning processes necessitating active cooperation between students and teachers to acquire knowledge.   In light of the emerging sociocultural dynamics associated with hybrid learning, teachers should be present and embody the desired behavioural patterns for their students. This current study recommends teachers actively collaborate and establish meaningful connections between the subject matter and real-world contexts, issues, and scenarios serving as a model for students"™ behaviour.

Abstract

Abstract

At this time, information technology is experiencing quite rapid development. Apart from developments in the types of technological equipment and supporting application software, this development is also based on the increasingly equitable use of technological information. In the current era of globalization, competition between companies is increasingly fierce, which encourages every company to implement information systems that can support the company's operational capabilities effectively, efficiently and under control so as to create a competitive advantage. Computerized user systems in processing company data are a manifestation of the rapid development of technology and information. This is used to support operational activities in order to produce appropriate and beneficial decisions for the company. This research aims to analyze the influence of information sophistication on the effectiveness of using the accounting information system at PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia. A sample is a part of the population taken based on certain calculations, to be used as material that will be researched optimally. The samples taken are based on the underlying theory because this sample represents the research object from the existing population. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a method using purposive sampling techniques, with 45 respondents indicating that the sophistication of information technology and personal technical abilities have a significant positive effect on the effectiveness of using accounting information systems. The results of data analysis and classical assumption tests confirmed statistical suitability. The implication is that the influence of sophisticated information technology and personal technical abilities can jointly increase the effectiveness of accounting information systems. Abstract

In the framework of conventional academic settings, there have been a large number of studies on the qualities of effective teachers; however, studies in the context of online environments seem to be scarcely documented in the literature. This explanatory sequential mixed-method study of 224 secondary school students, 21 of whom were interviewed in detail, examined their perspectives on effective teacher characteristics in online EFL instruction. This study differed from earlier investigations of the qualities of effective teachers in terms of its research site and inquiry emphasis. The results of the surveys and interviews provided students judgments of effective teacher traits in terms of roles, professional abilities, personal qualities, and pedagogical expertise. According to the results of the polls, the most significant criteria for effective online learning management were instructors classroom management roles and their professional skills. The interviews stressed the importance of teachers qualities in managing classrooms and their pedagogical knowledge. In an online EFL instruction, students needed their teachers to scaffold them and explain what they should do with the lesson and the procedures they should follow for activities and assignments. In addition, the interviews validated teachers capacity to establish a favorable rapport with the students to facilitate their meaningful learning. As this study identified teachers professional abilities in managing online learning as a requirement, an online-learning-based professional development program for teachers is highly recommended as the most plausible alternative for the post-pandemic reflection of this current study.
