Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying a group approach in counseling adolescents to address changes in their behavior. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design to measure behavior changes before and after the group counseling intervention. The research sample consisted of 30 adolescents randomly selected from several high schools in city X using probability sampling methods. The group counseling intervention was conducted over 8 sessions, with each session lasting 90 minutes. Counseling topics included emotional control, communication skills, stress management, and confidence building. Data collection instruments included validated and reliable questionnaires, as well as direct observation by facilitators. Data obtained from the pre-tests and post-tests were analyzed using paired t-tests to determine if there were significant changes in adolescent behavior before and after the intervention. The data analysis results indicated significant positive changes in adolescent behavior after participating in group counseling. These changes included improvements in emotional control, better communication skills, more effective stress management, and increased self-confidence. Additionally, adolescents showed a more positive attitude toward themselves and their social environment.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the scientific foundation of counseling guidance from the perspective of the philosophy of science, focusing on three main aspects: ontology, epistemology, and axiology. In the ontology study, this research analyzes the nature and existence of entities that are the objects of counseling guidance, such as individuals, psychological issues, and the process of behavioral change. Epistemology in counseling guidance examines how knowledge about counseling is acquired, validated, and applied, encompassing the scientific approaches, theories, and practices used by counselors. The axiological aspect examines the ethical values and objectives underlying the practice of counseling guidance, including the role of moral values, professional ethics, and the social impact of counseling. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature analysis as the main method. The results indicate that the scientific foundation of counseling guidance is greatly influenced by an ontological understanding of humans as complex and dynamic beings, an interdisciplinary epistemological approach, and an axiological commitment to individual and community well-being

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are essential competencies that students must possess to meet the challenges of the 21st century; however, students in Phase E at SMAN 2 Bayang still demonstrate low proficiency in this area. This deficiency is attributed to suboptimal student-centered learning and limited variation in instructional models. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ creative thinking skills in the biotechnology topic. The research employed a Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design experimental method, with the population consisting of all Phase E students and purposive sampling applied to select Phase E.9 as the experimental class and Phase E.5 as the control class. The research instrument was a set of nine essay questions with a validity score of 91.1, and data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that the average creative thinking score of students in the experimental class (6.75) was significantly higher than that of the control class (4.73), with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate that the PBL model has a significant effect on improving students’ creative thinking skills. The practical implication of this result is that the PBL model can be adopted as an effective instructional strategy to develop higher-order thinking skills, particularly in biotechnology learning at the senior high school level.
