Abstract

This study aims to determine the productivity of Lakor goats in rural conditions on Lakor Island, Southwest Maluku Regency. This researchwas conducted in October-November 2022 on Lakor Island. This research used This study used 60 Lakor goat breeders as respondents and the design. The results of this study showed that the average birth weight was 1kg, weaning weight was 13,15kg, bodyweight for kid goats aged 1-2 years was 86,91-22,84kg, number of matings 1,5-3 times, type of birth from a single sample village 11,32, twins 42,14, triplets 19,93, litter size 1,97, pre-weaning motility 7,33, sex ratio 3,31-3,70 and estrus cycle 18-24 days. It can be concluded that the productivity of Lakor goats in rural conditions in Pulau Lakor, West Maluku districtthe power is very good because even though the rearing of goats on Lakor Island is semi- intensive, green feed on Lakor Island really meets the needs of livestock so as to produce ideal body weight.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the physical quality of ela sago biscuits fermented by MOL with molasses after being stored. This research was conducted at the Feed Engineering Technology Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry Faculty of Agriculture Pattimura University Ambon, which took place from March to May 2023. The material used for this research was fermented MOL sago elas biscuits with molasses which were stored for 2 months. The equipment used is digital scales, mixing bowls, grinders, oven, mixing spoons, biscuit presses, trays, plastic bags, water, aluminum filters, label paper and stationery. The variables observed were the physical quality of the biscuits including color, aroma, texture, weight, and water absorption. Research is an experiment, and the observed data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that fermented MOL ela sago biscuits with Molasses after 2 months of storage there was a change in physical quality. The physical quality of fermented MOL ela sago biscuits with molasses underwent changes in physical quality in terms of weight, color, aroma, and water absorption.

Abstract

The aim of this research on the structural characteristics of the pig population in Latuhalat Village is to understand the composition, dynamics and structural characteristics of the pig population in Latuhalat Village.   The parameters measured in this research are the characteristics of the respondents which consist of: age, gender, education, livelihood and population structure which includes the number of pigs per age group and the sex ratio.  The research was carried out with 40 farmers as samples and this type of research was descriptive research.  The research results show that the characteristics of respondents in the research location, Latuhalat village, Nusaniwe District, are dominated by men in productive age with secondary education and running mixed farming businesses.  The population structure of pigs is dominated by female livestock, both at calf age (50.63%), young age (51.37%) and adult age (60.53%).  This research also identified the main challenges by farmers, is the low knowledge and skills of farmers which resulted in low pig productivity.  The recommendation from this research is that there needs to be an extension program that is carried out on the government and from academics and needs to be given a technology, especially in the field of feed and housing technology.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the nutritional content waste of sago biscuits fermented using Local Micro Organisms (MOL) as an alternative ruminant died. The basic ingredient used iswaste of sago which is fermented with local micro organisms (MOL) to increase its nutritional value and digestibility as animal feed. The variables observed in this research were: crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat and ash conte nt and Beta-N and the experimental design used was a descriptive design. The research results show that fermentation with MOL can increase the nutritional content of ela sago biscuits, especially in terms of protein content and fiber digestibility, so that these biscuits have the potential to be a good additional feed for ruminants. This conclusion shows that the use of fermented sago palm with MOL as a feed ingredient can support efficiency and sustainability in feeding in ruminant farming systems.

Abstract

Pigs are animals that have long been kept and developed for the purpose of meeting umanity's need for meat. Pig farming businesses in the community, especially in Wayari, Negeri Suli, Salahutu District, Central Maluku Regency, are still traditional. Pigs that are kept generally do not have good cage equipment and the feed they are given is only food scraps and agricultural waste. The aim of this service is to increase the knowledge and skills of pig farmers. Meanwhile, the benefit to be achieved is that farmers can run their business well, especially with a feeding system and housing system as well as cage equipment that meets the requirements. Breeders have a positive response because this is something that is good for them. Farmers have also realized that when feeding pigs it is necessary to provide additional feed in the form of bran so that it can increase the nutritional value of the rations given. Farmers have also been able to make guard rails so that they can reduce the death rate of pre-weaning piglets due to being crushed by their mothers. It is recommended that ongoing assistance is needed in the form of training in making separation cages, cage mats and heaters for newborn piglets to reduce the death of pre-weaning piglets.

Abstract

Cattle farming in rural areas is often considered a form of investment or living savings. Farmers maintain cattle as assets that can be sold at any time when they need urgent funds, such as for healthcare, education, or other expenses. Liang Village, located in Salahutu District, Central Maluku, has great potential for the development of beef cattle farming. However, its productivity remains low, partly due to a lack of proper livestock management. One important aspect of livestock management is individual identification. Without proper identification, it is difficult for farmers to track the growth of livestock, control diseases, and increase the market value of the cattle. This community service activity aims to raise awareness among farmers in Liang Village about the importance of livestock identification and technical assistance in the implementation of appropriate tagging methods. The desired outcome is that farmers will be able to manage their operations more effectively, especially in terms of livestock identification systems. Farmers have responded positively, as they view this as a beneficial and innovative approach. It is recommended that ongoing support be provided in the form of training on cattle tagging so that farmers can effectively monitor their livestock.
