Abstract

This study aims to determine the productivity of Lakor goats in rural conditions on Lakor Island, Southwest Maluku Regency. This researchwas conducted in October-November 2022 on Lakor Island. This research used This study used 60 Lakor goat breeders as respondents and the design. The results of this study showed that the average birth weight was 1kg, weaning weight was 13,15kg, bodyweight for kid goats aged 1-2 years was 86,91-22,84kg, number of matings 1,5-3 times, type of birth from a single sample village 11,32, twins 42,14, triplets 19,93, litter size 1,97, pre-weaning motility 7,33, sex ratio 3,31-3,70 and estrus cycle 18-24 days. It can be concluded that the productivity of Lakor goats in rural conditions in Pulau Lakor, West Maluku districtthe power is very good because even though the rearing of goats on Lakor Island is semi- intensive, green feed on Lakor Island really meets the needs of livestock so as to produce ideal body weight.

Abstract

Abstract Background: The need for and provision of forage is achieved by considering the continuous provision of forage in both quantity and quality. One of the efforts to develop animal husbandry that can be carried out is to utilize forage for livestock in deep coconut plantations. This research aims to determine the botanical composition of natural forage in coconut plantation areas as feed for ruminants in Taniwel District, West Seram Regency. Method: This research uses a purposive sampling method. The data used in this research is based on secondary data and primary data. Results: The research results showed that the botanical composition results were 63.18% grass, 26.30% weeds and 10.52% legumes. Production of forage in the coconut plantation area for fresh material is 16,698 tons/year and for dry material 5,159 tons/year. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it is necessary to eradicate pest plants (weeds) for forage and plant superior forage to increase the need for feed for ruminant livestock. The availability of forage, especially the production of forage, can still meet the need for animal feed in Taniwel District, West Seram Regency. Key words: Botanical composition of forage, Production of forage Abstrak Latar Belakang: Kebutuhan dan penyediaan hijauan pakan dicapai harus memikirkan penyediaan hijauan pakan yang kontinyu baik kuantitas maupun kualitasnya.

Abstract

Background:This study aims to determine the botanical composition of forages and legumes and the capacity of livestock in grazing fields in Bula sub-district, East Seram Regency. Research methods:This research was conducted in May 2009 with research locations in 2 villages, Jembatan Basa and Bula villages and using a survey method conducted in the grasslands. Determination of sample villages and grazing locations based on purposive sampling based on village area and number of ruminants. This method uses dry weigh rank to determine the botanical composition of forage by using cluster sampling, while in measuring the capacity of the capacity is measured based on the formula voisin (Y-1) S = r. Results :The study showed the botanical composition as follows: Pangola grass (Digitaria decumbens) 22.36 percent, donated pasture. Leguminosa found in Bula Sub-district, East Seram Regency, Arachis Nuts (Arachis glabarata) 5.37 percent, Asu beans (Kalopogonium mucunoides) 4.11 percent. The results of the study showed that the carrying capacity (KT) for ruminants in Bula District was 1.39 ha/UT/year or 0.58 UT/ha/year. Conclusion: The botanical composition of legumes in pastures in Bula sub-district does not meet the 9.84 percent standard, besides that there are tree legumes such as gamal (Gliisida sepium), and Chinese petai (Lamtorogun).

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the extent of agricultural waste utilization and its usage techniques by livestock farmers. The survey method was applied through direct face-to-face meetings with respondents and direct observation in the field with 30 respondents selected by purposive sampling representing three villages in Waeapo District (Wanareja, Waenetat, Waekasar). The results of the study showed that agricultural waste from food crops, such as rice straw, can be utilized as ruminant livestock feed by 53.00%, some of the agricultural waste is processed into hay. As many as 53.00% of livestock farmers have been able to apply technology to manage agricultural waste into feed, especially skilled in making hay.
