Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of using mathematical puzzles in trigonometry learning. The problem faced is the low interest and motivation of students in learning trigonometry as well as the lack of understanding of basic concepts. To address this issue, a descriptive research method with a case study approach was used, involving students from MAS Hidayahtullah Medan as research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature studies. The results of the research indicate that the use of mathematical puzzles significantly increases students' interest and motivation. Mathematical puzzles make learning more enjoyable and challenging, thereby motivating students to better understand trigonometry material. Additionally, mathematical puzzles are also effective in enhancing the understanding of basic trigonometry concepts, as evidenced by students' improved ability to solve trigonometry problems after using this medium. The conclusion of this study shows that mathematical puzzles are an effective learning medium to increase students' interest, motivation, and understanding in trigonometry learning. It is hoped that mathematics teachers can integrate mathematical puzzles into the learning process to create a more engaging and effective learning environment.

Abstract

This research is important to explore the potential of GeoGebra as an innovative learning tool in mathematics education. Amid rapid technological advancements, GeoGebra is expected to serve as an effective solution to help students understand complex mathematical concepts. By utilizing a literature review approach, this study collects data from various relevant sources regarding the application of GeoGebra in mathematics education. Based on the reviewed studies, the use of GeoGebra significantly contributes to improving students' ability to understand abstract concepts, especially in geometry. However, challenges exist in its implementation, such as limited technological infrastructure in schools and insufficient teacher training. With improved access to technology and teacher training, GeoGebra can be optimized as an effective tool for teaching mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematical communication, which involves the ability to express and understand mathematical ideas, is very important in learning. However, many conventional learning methods are less effective in improving these abilities. This study combines gamification-based flash card innovation with the TAPPS model to maximize social and cognitive interactions in mathematics learning, which is expected to have a positive impact on student engagement and understanding. This study aims to explore the application of gamification-based flash cards with the Think Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) model to improve junior high school students' mathematical communication skills. The research method used is classroom action research with several cycles that include (Planning, implementation, observation and reflection). Based on the research that has been conducted in 2 cycles with the application of the TAPPS model assisted by gamification-based flash cards, with an average of 84.8% in the first cycle and 94.1% in the second cycle. So there is an increase in students' mathematical communication skills. Therefore, gamification-based flash cards can be used as a medium to improve students' mathematical communication.
