Abstract

The focus of this study is to explain the immanence and transcendence of Petara Raja Juwata as the highest form of the Dayak Desa of West Kalimantan. The idea of the Dayak people of West Kalimantan knowing the Supreme Being arises from the human imagination that connects the events experienced with a force that rules the universe. The important thing about this Supreme Being is that this nature does not exist from itself but that there is something that creates it. The Village Dayak people call this Supreme Being as Petara Raja Juwata. Petara Raja Juwata is a center and a “religious” experience. Reli[1] gious life is a theophanic experience that affects all human life. Petara Raja Juwata is real, full of power, the source of all life and energy. Petara Raja Juwata is truly transcendent, a reality that does not belong to the world even though it is manifested in and through the world. Petara Raja Juwata is also essentially ambivalent, enchanting and frightening at the same time, the cause of life and death. Petara Raja Juwata is also approachable, He is immanent. He is close, lives and is involved in the daily life of the Desa Dayak people. This paper aims to describe, analyze the concept of Petara Raja Juwata as transcendent and at the same time immanent. The author uses a phenomeno[1] logical analysis methodology in the perspective of Valentinus Saeng in his presentation of the Mualang Dayak religion in myth. The type of research used is a qualitative research method. The findings in this study are that the Desa Dayak people in West Kalimantan are aware that Petara Raja Juwata as the Supreme Being of the Desa Dayak people is both immanent and transcendent.

Abstract

The focus of this research examines technology as a means of human liberation from the perspective of Herbert Marcuse. This research aims to investigate and look at new technology, namely technology that leads to the goal of complete human development. The development of human dignity is the goal of technology because technology is a means of human liberation to achieve its fullness. Technology is not a means of domination in various areas of life. Researchers used descriptive qualitative methods and critical reading of texts. Based on critical reading of the text, the researcher analyzes and combines materials related to Herbert Marcuse's views on One Dimensional Man. The findings in this research are that Marcuse does not reject technology because of the close relationship between technology and human development. Although it cannot be denied that industrial society, with its technology, oppresses humans, it does not invite humans to return to the pre-industrial or pre-technical era. Instead, it continues to turn to the liberating capabilities of technology and industrialization.

Abstract

The focus of this research discusses Fidelity: The Christian Vision of a Whole Marriage. Marriage is a form of human life desired by God. In the Catholic Church, marriage has a noble meaning because Christ himself is present in it. The basic attitude that husbands and wives need to always remember and realize is that the marriage they are in is noble and holy because it was created by God himself. The marriage that they share is a symbol of a divine secret, namely as a symbol of Christ's relationship of love to His Church. Awareness of the nobility and sanctity of marriage will enable them to balance the exposure to tempting internal and external problems. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and critical reading of texts. The results of this research are useful for helping married couples and Church officials to appreciate and preserve the noble values of Christian marriage, so that they can combat adultery which is now increasingly common in family life.

Abstract

This study focuses on the problem of proving the existence of God, offering a review and analysis of Thomas Aquinas' arguments. Aquinas' arguments are presented within the broader framework of theological knowledge, characterized by a highly systematic and detailed approach to proof. Additionally, this paper discusses the perspectives of several scholars who have examined and interpreted Aquinas' arguments on the existence of God. While some of their perspectives share similarities with Aquinas' reasoning, they also introduce differing elements based on their respective viewpoints. This research employs a library-based methodology using hermeneutic phenomenology, which involves collecting, analyzing, organizing, and interpreting relevant literature as well as reflections on faith in God. The primary sources of this study include Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologiae, while secondary sources provide further context and analysis. The findings of this study indicate that the concept of analogy in Aquinas' argument serves to illustrate a new mode of action that transcends the hierarchical levels of created beings. Aquinas begins his reasoning from a horizontal perspective and subsequently shifts it to a vertical dimension, unveiling a spiritual aspect that revitalizes both life and faith in God.

Abstract

This article discusses Jesus anthropologically and his implication as well as historicity in the Islamic context. In Islam, Jesus is called ‘Īsā al-Masīḥ. In this article we discuss Jesus in the Quran and the Hadith, the anthropology of Jesus in Islam, the miracle of Jesus in the Islamic context, the Christian polemic against Islam in the Middle Ages and the dialogue and peace between Christians and Muslims. The method employed is content analysis of relevant primary and secondary data. The data collection method uses library research to explore various reference sources. The primary and secondary data obtained are then analyzed using a qualitative approach. The result is that the figure of Jesus based on Oddbjørn Leirvik’s thought can be used to promote harmony and peace in religious relationships, and it is very relevant to Indonesian context. The awareness of the figure of Jesus based on Islamic and Catholic teachings is essential to promote harmony especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of ecological colonialism in West Kalimantan through the intersecting lenses of Michel Foucault's genealogy of power and Sean McDonagh's ecotheological discourse. Drawing upon a critical-theoretical framework, the research investigates how historical and contemporary environmental domination, often justified through state-corporate development narratives, constitutes a form of colonial violence against both nature and indigenous epistemologies. By employing Foucault's concept of power relations and discursive formations, the study deconstructs the mechanisms through which ecological control is normalized, particularly in extractive economies such as palm oil and mining. Simultaneously, McDonagh’s ecotheology offers a normative theological response that reframes the relationship between humanity, creation, and justice, providing a counter-narrative rooted in ecological ethics. The local resistance of communities in West Kalimantan is examined as a site of epistemic contestation, where indigenous cosmologies and spiritualities challenge dominant ecological paradigms. This research contributes to the broader discourse on political ecology, postcolonial theology, and environmental justice by bridging critical theory and contextual theology. It underscores the need to rethink environmental governance through plural epistemologies that honor both ecological integrity and sociocultural sovereignty.
