Abstract

Indonesia holds the third position in global coffee bean supply, with a 3.3% increase in demand in 2021 according to ICO data. In line with ICO Resolution 407, coffee bean quality must be high, indicated by a 12.5% moisture content through drying processes. Mechanical drying is faster than traditional methods, thus becoming the focus of this research. This study implements an IoT-based monitoring system for coffee bean drying equipment. The aim is to create and implement a monitoring system for temperature (0°C - 70°C) and electrical energy consumption (kWh) in coffee bean drying, displayed on the ThingSpeak dashboard. Test results show that the temperature monitoring system using DHT22 sensors at the inlet and outlet of the rotary dryer tube has an average error of 2.1%. The energy monitoring system using PZEM-004T has a 0% energy measurement error. These results indicate a reliable monitoring system that enables remote monitoring via the internet. Furthermore, the study tests manual (on/off) and fuzzy logic control methods to achieve 12% moisture content in coffee beans. The fuzzy logic control method demonstrates better temperature stability and 11.2% cost savings in operational expenses. This research benefits coffee farmers by facilitating efficient monitoring of the bean drying process, and recommends the use of the fuzzy logic control method for stable temperature and lower operational costs.

Abstract

The control panel on the filling machine is an important component in the industrial automation system that functions to regulate the work sensors, actuators, and time-based control devices. This research begins with the emergence of ideas or needs to develop a system or solve a problem, which is then followed by problem identification and literature study to strengthen the theoretical basis. This study aims to redesign the filling machine control panel using a modular approach based on the Arduino Nano microcontroller. By replacing analog components with digital ones such as relay channels, LCDs, and modular PCBs, a cost efficiency analysis was carried out between the old and new systems. Testing was carried out by evaluating the response time, stability, and actuator coordination of the control panel, as well as conducting an economic analysis that included cost reduction and Return on Investment (ROI) calculations. These indicators were compared between the new and old panels to assess improvements in both technical performance and economic efficiency. The results showed that the new panel improved response speed, stability, and actuator coordination, while achieving cost savings of up to 80% compared to the conventional panel. The Return on Investment (ROI) analysis indicated an ROI of 405%, which demonstrates a significant economic advantage as the initial investment can be recovered multiple times over. This result highlights that the redesigned system is not only technically superior but also cost-effective and flexible, making it highly suitable for small to medium-scale industries. This system is also more modular, easy to program, and supports digital interface integration, making it a feasible and sustainable automation solution

Abstract

Istishna' financing is a sales contract where the price of the goods is paid in advance, but can be paid in installments according to agreed terms. The problem of this research is how to apply the istishna contract to the 57 plisket convection business and the provisions of muamalah fiqh. The type of research method used is literature review. The source of the literature review journal comes from the Al-Tsaman journal from the IAIN Jember. The aim is to explain the application of Istishna 'contracts in the 57 plisket convection business, and to find out the provisions of muamalah fiqh that are in accordance with the Islamic economy

Abstract

Background: Coffee is a key plantation commodity in Indonesia, with Gunung Kawi producing Robusta, Arabica, and Excelsa varieties. However, local farmers still rely on traditional drying methods and outdated marketing, affecting bean quality and sales. This community service program seeks to address these issues by introducing a 30 kg-capacity rotary dryer to meet the SNI 01-2907-2008 standard and by providing digital marketing training to enhance competitiveness. Contribution: This program significantly supports Sekar Adji MSMEs by introducing a rotary dryer that enables coffee drying to meet national quality standards. Combined with digital marketing training and improved packaging, it enhances product promotion and competitiveness in the digital market, ultimately boosting MSME revenue. Method: The program involves four main activities: manufacturing and training on the use of a 30 kg-capacity rotary dryer, providing digital marketing training to enhance social media and e-commerce use, redesigning coffee packaging for better appeal, and restructuring the MSME organization to improve adaptability and management efficiency. Results: The program introduced a 30 kg-capacity rotary dryer and digital marketing training. The dryer reduced moisture content to 11.5%, and product packaging was improved with five new designs. The program significantly increased marketing reach and MSME revenue. Digital platforms such as Instagram, Tokopedia, and TikTok Shop were utilized to expand online presence, and a new organizational structure enhanced business operation. Conclusion: Analysis of the results shows that the program positively impacted product quality and sales at Sekar Adji MSMEs, primarily by improving drying processes and enhancing digital marketing through targeted training.
