Abstract

This study investigates the complex relationship between political connections and corporate investment, focusing on state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia during the period 2018–2021. Drawing on agency theory and political economy frameworks, the research proposes a non-linear (inverted U-shaped) effect of political ties on firm-level investment decisions. Furthermore, the study examines the moderating role of cash holdings, positing that financial slack amplifies both the benefits and drawbacks of political affiliations. Using panel regression models with fixed effects, the analysis reveals a significant inverted U-shaped relationship between political connection intensity and investment levels, confirming the hypothesized non-linearity. Additionally, interaction terms show that cash holdings strengthen this non-linear pattern: firms with higher cash reserves are more sensitive to both the enabling and distortionary effects of political connections. These findings are robust to alternative specifications and contribute to the understanding of political capital’s nuanced role in corporate finance, especially within hybrid political-economic systems like Indonesia’s. The results suggest that while political connections may serve as strategic assets under certain conditions, they can also generate inefficiencies when unchecked.

Abstract

Leadership behavior and skills are essential in dealing with dynamic environmental changes and building the morale and motivation of organizational members to achieve high work productivity. Leadership capabilities are needed to improve managerial competencies that play a role in influencing, coordinating, and communicating effectively. Managerial competence also creates openness, appreciation, and attachment felt by employees, thereby increasing efficiency and collaboration within the organization. In addition, this competency helps individuals complete tasks faster, more precisely, and professionally, which ultimately supports the achievement of organizational goals. One of the important factors in supporting managerial competence is training and integrative leadership roles that can be facilitated by organizations, including higher education institutions. This research aims to encourage the improvement of the managerial competence of study program leaders through training and integrative leadership. Integrative leadership theory seeks to identify the behaviors and characteristics of effective leaders and how they can influence subordinates in certain situations. Integrative leadership is seen as a strategic approach to influence employees through the leader's ability to manage the organization dynamically and adaptively, creating a productive and harmonious work environment.

Abstract

The aim of this service activity is to increase the self-resilience of pond farmers, due to very rapid environmental changes. Apart from that, this activity is also carried out as a form of implementation of the blue economy which is currently the focus of the government's attention. This is because fisheries cultivation is a business whose production activities are always faced with the threat of risk and uncertainty. The source of this uncertainty is usually a decrease in cultivation production results or price fluctuations. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out risk management to determine the appropriate risk map and strategy to handle production risks experienced by fisheries farmers. The partner for this activity is Pokdakan Berkah Nila Abadi, Dukuhseti District, Pati Regency. Dukuhseti District is an area for brackish water pond fish cultivation. Cultivating salted tilapia is the main commodity. Dukuhseti District is now the main supplier of salted tilapia fish in Central Java and on the island of Java. Seeing the production results and potential of brackish water pond fish cultivation, economically it has contributed to the local population to meet their financial needs. This activity method begins with identifying risks related to cultivation production results and price fluctuations. Furthermore, partners will be provided with training regarding preventive and risk mitigation strategies for managing saline tilapia ponds. It is hoped that regular mentoring and monitoring activities can increase partners' self-resilience abilities. So that partners become strong and superior in competing in the industry.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strategies for improving the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 2 related to the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in the Management Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). KPI-2 focuses on increasing student participation in off-campus activities, such as internships, student exchange programs, and humanitarian projects. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing SWOT analysis and QSPM to examine both internal and external factors affecting the implementation of the MBKM program. The findings reveal that while the Management Study Program has a relevant curriculum and is supported by ministerial policies, challenges such as limited types of MBKM activities and competition with students from other universities remain obstacles. Based on the analysis, the integration of the MBKM program with faculty research project assistance activities is proposed as a strategy to enhance student participation. The implementation of this strategy is expected to improve the achievement of KPI-2 for the Management Program at UNNES and serve as a reference for other study programs in executing MBKM.
