Abstract

This research aims to explore the thoughts of Imam al-Ghazali as the foundation of the religious moderation paradigm in Islamic education and examine its relevance in the context of a multicultural society. Imam al-Ghazali is one of the prominent Islamic scholars who advocated views that support religious moderation, tolerance, and interfaith harmony. This study employs the library research method to analyze and summarize Imam al-Ghazali's thoughts and understand how these views can be applied in the context of multicultural Islamic education. The research findings demonstrate that Imam al-Ghazali's thoughts reflect a strong paradigm of religious moderation. He emphasized the importance of a balanced understanding of religion, as well as values such as tolerance, compassion, and peace in Islam. These concepts have significant relevance in the context of a multicultural society, where religious and cultural differences are an unavoidable reality. Islamic education based on Imam al-Ghazali's thoughts can play a crucial role in promoting better interfaith understanding, reducing conflicts, and building harmonious relationships in a multicultural society. Therefore, this research underscores the importance of revitalizing the paradigm of religious moderation in Islamic education and integrating it into the Islamic education curriculum. The implications of this research highlight the need for genuine efforts in developing Islamic education that focuses on the values of religious moderation as a path towards a more inclusive, tolerant, and peaceful society in the era of multiculturalism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Article 17 of Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning Islamic Boarding Schools (Pesantren), which regulates the provision of formal and non-formal education within the Pesantren environment in Indonesia. Pesantren education plays a crucial role in developing students' character and skills while preserving religious values. However, the presence of new regulations in the form of Law Number 18 of 2019 raises questions about how Pesantren will carry out formal and non-formal education in accordance with the new rules. This research utilizes a literature analysis method to examine various literary sources, including Law Number 18 of 2019, its implementing regulations, as well as empirical studies related to the implementation of Article 17. The study also seeks perspectives from various stakeholders, such as Pesantren leaders, teachers, and the surrounding community, to understand the impacts and challenges faced in conducting formal and non-formal education. The results of this research are expected to provide a better understanding of how Pesantren can comply with legal regulations while continuing education in line with the principles and values inherent in the Pesantren tradition. Furthermore, this study also has the potential to offer recommendations for policy improvements or practical guidelines for Pesantren in conducting effective formal and non-formal education in accordance with applicable rules. Thus, this research is anticipated to contribute to the development of the Pesantren education system in Indonesia and enhance understanding of the role of Pesantren in society.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the concepts of Islamic educational philosophy contained in the work "Testament of New Experience Reflection" by TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid. In this study, the author conducts a profound analysis of the content of the work, identifying the values, principles, and concepts of Islamic education that can be found in the text. The research also explores the historical and cultural context in which the work was written and the relevance of the concepts found in the work to contemporary Islamic education. This research employs a philosophical approach and critical analysis to understand and evaluate the thinking of TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid in the context of Islamic education. The results of this research can provide profound insights into the philosophy of Islamic education within the work and the contributions of the thinker to Islamic educational thought. This research is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of Islamic education, moral values, ethics, educational goals, and methods within the context of Islam, as well as the relevance of the ideas of TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid to contemporary Islamic education. Furthermore, this research serves as a foundation for further studies on Islamic educational thought in Indonesia.
