Desa Sungai Nibung adalah salah satu desa yang termasuk dalam kawasan minapolitan Teluk Pakedai, merupakan salah satu pesisir yang memiliki keanekaragaman biota laut yang sangat tinggi. Dengan kawasan perairan yang teduh, kawasan pesisir desa Nibung ini menjadi tempat berteduh bagi kapal-kapal nelayan yang terkendala gelombang tinggi di laut lepas sehingga tidak dapat melanjutkan aktivitas bernelayan. Akibat ramainya dermaga tambatan perahu, aktivitas perekonomian di sekitar dermaga juga sangat aktif. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat edukasi dan giat bersih pantai di pesisir desa Sungai Nibung ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang resiko atau bahaya yang diakibatkan oleh penimbunan sampah, terutama sampah plastik, terhadap kelangsungan hidup biota laut dan kesuburan perairan di kawasan tersebut. Edukasi tentang bahaya sampah disampaikan dengan materi ceramah yang dilanjutkan dengan giat bersih pantai, berlokasi di sekitar dermaga kapal nelayan. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 80 orangĀ yang terdiri dari mahasiswa, dosen dan praktisi ekowisata serta masyarakat desa Nibung. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta, melalui pengisian kuisioner sebelum dan sesudah berkegiatan, terkait materi bagaimana dampak aktivitas di daratan terhadap kualitas perairan, bagaimana akumulasi sampah yang berpotensi membahayakan kehidupan biota perairan serta upaya-upaya yang bisa didilakukan dalam menangani permasalahan sampah di lingkungan pesisir. Berdasarkan penilaian kuisioner dari peserta, menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman terkait materi yang sudah diberikan dari rata-rata respon peserta yang memahami sebesar 60% menjadi 100%. Education and Activity Beach Cleaning as One of the Efforts to Save the Coastal Ecosystem in Nibung Village, Teluk Pakedai District Sungai Nibung Village is one of the villages included in the Pakedai Bay Minapolitan area, it is one of the coasts that has a very high diversity of marine biota. With shady waters, the coastal area of ??Nibung village provides shelter for fishing boats which are hampered by high waves in the open sea so they cannot continue fishing activities. Due to the busy boat docks, economic activity around the docks is also very active. The aim of community service activities to educate and actively clean beaches on the coast of Sungai Nibung village is to increase knowledge about the risks or dangers caused by the accumulation of waste, especially plastic waste, on the survival of marine biota and the fertility of waters in the area. Education about the dangers of rubbish was delivered with lecture material followed by active beach cleaning, located around the fishing boat dock. The activity was attended by 80 people consisting of students, lecturers and ecotourism practitioners as well as the Nibung village community. Activity evaluation is carried out to measure participants' understanding, by filling in questionnaires before and after the activity, regarding material regarding the impact of activities on land on water quality, how the accumulation of waste has the potential to endanger the life of aquatic biota and the efforts that can be taken to deal with waste problems in the coastal environment. . Based on questionnaire assessments from participants, it shows an increase in understanding regarding the material that has been given from the average response of participants who understand it at 60% to 100%.
