Abstract

The aim of this study was to produce a counting board media based on the Montessori Method for first grade students in elementary school in addition and subtraction. The type of research used is research & development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model. Media development includes 6  stages: research and data colletion, planning, develop preliminary form a product, preliminary field testing, final product revision,and dissemination and implementation. The subjects in this study were grade 1st students at Kanisius Wirobrajan Elementary School for the 2022/2023 academic year. The object of this research is learning media based on the Montessori method. Data collection techniques used were interviews, questionnaires, tests and observation. The data collection instruments used were interview guides, questionnaires, test questions and observation guidelines.The results of this study indicate: (1) The development of media based on the Montessori method is in accordance with the development steps according to Borg and Gall. (2)Product quality is in accordance with Montessori characteristics, namely interesting, graded, auto-correction, auto-education and contextual. Product quality that has been validated by Montessori and Mathematics Experts has “very good” quality with an average score of 3,91. (3) The development of Montessori method based counting board media is able to improve students’ ability to count addition and subtraction because it has increased by 112.9% and students become more active in the learning process.

Abstract

Sensitive periods in children occur within a very short period of time and significantly influence a child's abilities. In learning, children construct themselves through physical activities within their surroundings. This research is conducted with the aim of enhancing knowledge about 1) self-construction in children, 2) sensitive periods, and 3) the role of teachers in preparing the learning environment. The results of this research indicate that 1) children construct themselves through physical activities involving their senses, 2) sensitive periods are sensitive times for children to receive stimuli from their surrounding environment, and 3) teachers play an important role in preparing a learning environment using the principles of the Montessori method that is effective for children according to their stage of development.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the importance of fine motor stimulation to improve children's writing skills in Kindergarten (TK) B. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The research results show that there are 21.74% of children who still have difficulty holding writing instruments and have not fully mastered basic writing skills such as recognizing and following letter patterns or shapes. The research results show that fine motor stimulation, especially through the tracing method, has an important role in improving writing skills in children aged 5-6 years or at kindergarten age level. The tracing method helps children train eye and hand coordination and control hand movements, thus training the child's finger muscles and getting children used to being able to recognize patterns or letter shapes. Apart from that, this method can also increase children's concentration, patience, perseverance and creativity. So, with the tracing method, children can develop fine motor skills and improve children's writing abilities at the kindergarten age level.

Abstract

Inclusive education provides equal learning space for all students, including children with special needs. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the inquiry approach for students with special needs in mathematics lessons in inclusive schools. The inquiry approach was chosen because it encourages student activity through exploration and direct learning experiences, which are in accordance with the learning characteristics of students with special needs. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with observation techniques for students with special needs and interviews with teachers at one of the inclusive schools in Yogyakarta. The results of the study indicate that the inquiry approach with the use of concrete media, intensive guidance, and inclusive group work strategies is effective for understanding mathematical concepts for students with special needs. The conclusion of this study is that an adaptive and contextual inquiry approach is able to create an inclusive, collaborative learning environment and support the cognitive and social-emotional development of students with special needs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan peran dan tantangan shadow teacher dalam mendukung pembelajaran Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus (ABK) di Sekolah Dasar Inklusif di Yogyakarta. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan partisipan tiga shadow teacher dipilih secara purposive. Teknik pengumpulan data mencakup wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, dan dokumentasi Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran serta laporan perkembangan peserta didik. Analisis data mengikuti model Miles dan Huberman, meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi temuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa shadow teacher secara sistematis menyesuaikan materi dan strategi pembelajaran mulai dari lembar kerja yang disederhanakan hingga penerapan scaffolding bertahap serta mengelola aspek sosial-emosional ABK melalui intervensi responsif, peer buddy system, dan calming corner. Koordinasi berkelanjutan dengan guru kelas dan orang tua melalui rapat Inkuiry Learning Program (ILP) dan laporan berkala memastikan intervensi selalu memenuhi kebutuhan individual ABK. Kendala utama yang diidentifikasi meliputi keterbatasan jumlah pendamping, fasilitas pembelajaran khusus, dan minimnya pelatihan profesional berkelanjutan. Rekomendasi meliputi peningkatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia, optimalisasi sarana inklusif, dan penyusunan program pelatihan terstruktur dalam manajemen kelas inklusif, diferensiasi instruksi, serta strategi intervensi emosional.
