Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the response of the growth of oil palm seedlings (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) with solid application as analternative planting medium in the main nursery. This research was conducted at the Agricultural High School Gardens and the Agricultural Agribusiness Laboratory (STIP-AP) Medan. This research was conducted from April to August 2019. This study used a non factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 4 replications, with a total sample of 48 samples. The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, leaf blade, number of roots, primary root length, root wet weight, crown wet weight, root dry weight and crown dry weight. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of this study indicate that the application of solid waste as analternative planting medium for oil palm nurseries (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) in the main nurseries has a significant effect on several parameters observed including stem diameter, number of leaves, and root dry weight. Keywords: decanter solid, seedlings, simalungun DxP varieties, palm oil, alternative

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a map of the distribution and density of mangroves, analyze the level of ecosystem sustainability, including ecological, economic, and social dimensions, in the mangrove area, and determine priority strategies for the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem in five sub-districts of Serdang Bedagai Regency. This research began with collecting primary and secondary data through direct observation, interviews with the community, and a literature study. The results of this research show that there is an increase in the area of mangroves on the coast of the Serdang Bedagai Regency area of 3.48 ha. From image data analysis in 2020, the area of mangroves was 1,037.37 ha, and in 2022, the area of mangroves was 1,040.85 ha. There is also an increase in the area of mangroves in the categories of very dense (373.86 ha), very rare (3.89 ha), and there is a decrease in mangrove area in the dense category (201.29 ha) and rare category (172.98 ha). amounting to 172.98 ha (17%) with rarely changing conditions. By looking at this data, it can be said that the sustainability of mangrove forests is good. The priority strategy implemented is community outreach about the importance of mangrove ecosystems and environmental management. Preserving mangroves is essential due to their vital role in maintaining ecosystem balance.

Abstract

This study presents an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the structure, performance, and development strategy of the inland fishery supply chain in the buffer zone of Sebangau National Park (SNP), Central Kalimantan. As one of the world's largest and most crucial tropical peat swamp ecosystems, SNP plays a dual role as a biodiversity reservoir and a pillar of the local economy through the fishery sector. However, this vast potential faces a paradox of supply chain inefficiency, market information asymmetry, and vulnerability to extreme peat hydrological dynamics. This research adopts a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design, integrating the depth of qualitative data from in-depth interviews and participatory observation with the rigor of quantitative analysis through SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and QSPM (Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix) instruments. The results reveal a supply chain anatomy dominated by patron-client relationships, with fishermen positioned as price takers. Key findings indicate that the greatest internal strengths lie in the fishermen's social capital and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), as well as adaptive innovations in live fish storage. Conversely, the absence of cold chain infrastructure and downstreaming facilities represents a critical weakness causing economic value-added leakage. Through QSPM strategy simulation, this study establishes the downstreaming of fish-based food products as the main priority strategy with the highest Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) of 1.00, outperforming aquaculture and ecotourism strategies. This article provides a theoretical contribution to the literature on supply chain management in wetlands and offers practical policy recommendations for transformation toward adaptive and sustainable regional food security.
