Abstract

When the Kidney shows structural changes or dysfunction for more than three months, it may turn into chronic kidney failure. Worldwide, there are 1,5 million patients with chronic kidney failure receiving hemodialysis therapy. This prevalence increases by 8 percent per year. To overcome fatigue, nurses give a range of motion (ROM) and breathing exercises. This quantitative research determined the effects of the range of motion and breathing exercise on fatigue in patients receiving hemodialysis with a pre-experimental research design, involving two pretest-posttest control group designs. The sample consisted of 118 respondents taken with a total sampling technique. The Mann-Withney test showed than the influence of fatigue on the intervention and control groups after exercise range of movement and breathing was proven with the p-value is 0.000 (P<0.05). Therefore, future research can apply this research as a reference.

Abstract

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), is a retrovirus family, that attacks T lymphocytes (CD4) cells in the immune system. The purpose of administering antiretroviral (ARV) therapy to HIV/AIDS patients is to increase the cluster of deficiency 4 (CD4). Given that ARV treatment is lifelong, patients must maintain excellent compliance with ARV medication. Side effects can sometimes lead to reduced ARV medication compliance. The quantitative research determines the correlation between the cognitive level and compliance with ARV medicine in HIV/AIDS patients with a cross-sectional approach. The study inadvertently involved 32 respondents. The data collection techniques were questionnaires on cognition, self-effectiveness, and compliance. Based on the Spearman rank, the test results indicate a significant correlation between self-efficacy (p-value: 0.003; r = 0.509), cognitive level (p-value of 0.001; r = 0.542), and the consistency of ARV drug intake in HIV/AIDS patients at the SMC Hospital Telogorejo VCT clinic. The research concludes the correlation between self-efficacy, cognitive level, and compliance. Nurses should expand their role as consultants and must participate in health education on HIV/AIDS patient management.

Abstract

Stones in the urethral tract or ureterolithiasis cause pain, vomiting, and shivering due to infection. The management of ureterolithiasis includes invasive procedures such as ureteroscopy. Hypothermia may occur during ureteroscopy operations due to the use of anesthetic drugs, exposure to cold air in the surgery room, and the administration of cold fluids. Providing a heating blower is an effective nursing intervention to prevent hypothermia after surgery. The study determined the effects of heating blower on the occurrence of hypothermia in post-uteroscopy patients. The quasi-experimental research method used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study involved 30 post-ureteroscopy patients at the Telogorejo SMC. The researchers accidentally collected the samples, using thermometers and observation sheets as instruments. The results found the pretest result, without a heating blower, with the body temperature mean of 35.8o (mild hypothermia), after providing the heating blower for 45 minutes, the body temperature mean increased to 36.9o (no hyperthermia). The results indicate the influence of the heating blower toward the hyperthermia prevalence of post-ureteroscopy patients at SMC Telogorejo with a p-value of 0.000 lower than 0.05 and a body temperature increase of 1.03oC. The results suggest doctors use a heating blower as one of the post-ureteroscopy nursing interventions.
