Abstract

Tourism villages can be an alternative in the development of Community Based Tourism (CBT). CBT development in tourist villages is influenced by various aspects, one of which is homestay accommodation. However, there is still limited research related to the identity of tourist villages, especially in the context of homestays. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role played by homestays as a tourist village identity, with a focus on Mekarlaksana Tourism Village. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach, involving a case study in Mekarlaksana Tourism Village. Data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with Pokdarwsi (Tourism Awareness Group) and homestay managers. In this study determined 10 resource persons with the criteria of people who were born, lived and made a living in the village. The findings of this study reveal that the identity of a tourist village and the role of homestays are key elements in the context of rural tourism. Tourism villages emphasize uniqueness, sustainability, and local wisdom, which include cultural attractions, nature, history, accommodation, and traditions that distinguish the village from other places. The role of homestays in developing the identity of a tourist village has proven to be very important. The findings of this study provide an understanding to tourism village managers that the presence of homestays can attract tourists to visit.   Desa wisata dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam pengembangan Community Based Tourism (CBT). Pengembangan CBT di desa wisata dipengaruhi oleh berbagai aspek, salah satunya adalah akomodasi homestay. Namun, masih terbatasnya penelitian terkait identitas desa wisata khususnya dalam konteks homestay. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran yang dimainkan oleh homestay sebagai identitas desa wisata, dengan fokus pada Desa Wisata Mekarlaksana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan mengambil studi kasus di Desa Wisata Mekarlaksana. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam dengan Pokdarwsi (Kelompok Sadar Wisata) dan pengelola homestay. Temuan dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa identitas desa wisata dan peran homestay merupakan elemen kunci dalam konteks pariwisata pedesaan. Desa wisata menekankan pada keunikan, keberlanjutan, dan kearifan lokal, yang meliputi atraksi budaya, alam, sejarah, akomodasi, dan tradisi yang membedakan desa tersebut dengan tempat lain. Peran homestay dalam mengembangkan identitas desa wisata terbukti sangat penting. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman kepada pengelola desa wisata bahwa keberadaan homestay dapat menarik wisatawan untuk berkunjung.

Abstract

Wellness tourism has gained increasing attention as individuals seek experiences that support physical, mental, and emotional well-being, especially among younger generations. Previous studies have highlighted that wellness tourism motivations often include stress relief, personal development, and the pursuit of unique experiences, yet research focusing specifically on Generation Z remains limited. This study validates the factors influencing wellness tourism motivation among Generation Z. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey and purposive sampling of 310 respondents, motivational factors were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that Generation Z’s wellness tourism motivation is multidimensional, encompassing physical health, transcendence, escape from routine, care for others, new experiences, and self-esteem development. For this generation, wellness tourism functions not only as a form of recreation but also as a coping mechanism for modern life pressures, a medium for self-reflection, and a tool for personal growth and emotional recovery. These findings contribute theoretically by extending the literature on youth travel behavior and wellness motivation, while practically informing the design of tourism experiences that cater to Generation Z’s holistic well-being needs. Future research could investigate wellness tourism motivations across diverse cultural and regional contexts, adopt longitudinal designs to monitor motivational changes over time, and explore the influence of digital wellness platforms or social media on travel behavior. Additionally, qualitative studies could provide deeper insights into personal narratives and emotional experiences, enriching the understanding of how wellness tourism shapes the lifestyle and psychological well-being of young travelers.

Abstract

Pengembangan desa wisata mempunyai peranan penting dalam pengembangan pariwisata di Indonesia, terutama seiring dengan dilaksanakannya program Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif yang membuka lapangan kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan menganalisis Perda No. 7 Tahun 2020 guna mencapai tujuan pengembangan pariwisata di Desa Wisata Mekarlaksana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan studi kasus di Desa Mekarlaksana. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam kepada Pokdarwis dan masyarakat Desa Mekarlaksana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perda Nomor 7 Tahun 2020 cukup efektif dalam mencapai tujuan pengembangan pariwisata daerah khususnya dalam meningkatkan perekonomian daerah dan kesejahteraan masyarakat di Desa Mekarlaksana. Berupa keberadaan UMKM dari masyarakat, terbentuknya homestay dari rumah masyarakat dan pengabdian masyarakat yang dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan pariwisata di Desa Mekarlaksana. Perda tersebut memberikan landasan hukum yang kuat bagi pengembangan sektor pariwisata, menetapkan peraturan dan pedoman yang jelas, sehingga menciptakan kepastian hukum bagi pelaku usaha dan masyarakat, serta memberikan landasan bagi pengelolaan destinasi pariwisata secara terencana.
