Abstract

The community service program is one of the “Tri Dharma” for the university in a scheme of society dedication. The general purpose of community service is to allow students to implement the knowledge obtained during university. This is the real implementation to solve real problems in society. The community service program was held in Sukamandi, Sagalaherang, Subang. It is located around 28 km from Polman Bandung. Located in the foothills of Tangkuban Parahu, this village has a lot of potential tourist attractions. One of the problems during the night is the lack of lighting. This program offers a solution to install integrated solar-powered street lighting. Solar energy potential in Indonesia is around 207,8 GW, which is only 0,1% used for electricity. As discussed with the headman of Sukamandi village, three solar-powered street lights are installed in the Bukit Jamali and Curug Cibingbin areas. The specification of solar-powered street lighting is 150 Watts and the solar panel is 30 Wp which complies with SNI standards. The performance of solar panels can be achieved with an average power of 29,9 W.  Based on the measurement result, the time required to charge the battery to full condition is 7.06 hours in fine weather. The lifetime of solar-powered street lighting is approximately 5.7 years, depending on operating conditions and the environment.

Abstract

This industry consists of companies engaged in metal processing and workmanship. Companies often receive complaints from employees concerning pain or discomfort in their bodies, causing diseases such as low back pain and myalgia. The risk of accidents occurring at work is inseparable from the work done. Work-related accidents can occur due to several factors, including unsafe action. One cause of unsafe actions can be found in various unsafe work postures that workers assume. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the posture of these workers so that it can improve their safety and health. This research was conducted by identifying occupational risks workers face and examining work performed in stamping products. The production section consists of six stations: material handling, stamping, welding, hemming, painting, and packing. The work risks run by workers have been identified using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire and interview methods. As for the identification of the type of work carried out by evaluating work postures, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method has been employed. The risk level of accidents is also used for the selection of activities to be improved to minimize the level of injury risk caused by work postures that have been assumed, and in order to improve the safety and health of the workers. Improvements made are in engineering, such as manufacturing of assistive devices, and management engineering, such as providing directions that can improve the specific work posture used. Calculations are based on simulations performed with tools conducted with suggested postures by evaluation using the REBA method. Based on the results of REBA calculations, the resulting risk is lower than the one caused by the previously assumed posture, namely medium and low.

Abstract

Background. This paper examines the impact of uncomfortable workplaces on absenteeism and employee complaints in the shoe and automotive industries. The risk of work-related accidents can be caused by several factors, such as unsafe actions resulting from unsuitable work positions for employees. Aims. This study analyzes the risk of MSDs interference among workers in the Material Inspection and Packing Department of PT X Shoe Company and PT Adyawinsa Stamping Industry (PT ASI). Method. The methods employed include direct observation in the workplace, visual documentation, in-depth interviews with workers, and measurements using the REBA. Result. The measurement results indicate that arranging materials on shelves and boxes on pallets has a REBA score that falls in the medium to high category, making it necessary to improve the working position as soon as possible. Conclusion. Improvement efforts are made to assistive devices, and directions are given to workers to improve their work posture. The results of work improvement using these tools will lead to a safer and more comfortable work environment. Implementation. This study proposes the application of anti-fatigue mats, improved air circulation, and work posture training to reduce ergonomic risks. With these interventions, employees can work more effectively, improving work comfort, reducing the risk of MSDs, and enhancing worker productivity.
