Abstract

Stunting is one of the problems experienced by toddlers due to disruption of nutritional intake since pregnancy, which can hinder children's development and have long-term negative effects. Women who are not physically healthy enough to marry are more likely to have children who are short for their age. The aim of this service activity is to determine the relationship between early marriage and stunting in children. The questionnaire was used as a pre-test and post-test, by determining the average number of respondents who understood the information before and after being socialized on the topic of early marriage and adolescent reproductive health. The results of service activities show that the knowledge of young women in Tanjung Anom Village increased by >50% after being given material presentations by the PKM team. The suggestion given is to increase cross-sector collaboration between decision makers, so as to reduce the risk of stunting cases in the future.

Abstract

Medical solid waste management is a critical element of hospital environmental health that determines the prevention of environmental pollution and nosocomial infection transmission. In Indonesia, the practice is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 2 of 2023, which mandates a structured cycle of reduction, segregation, containment, internal transportation, temporary storage, and final treatment. This study aimed to analyze medical solid waste management at RSU Bunda Thamrin Medan in 2026, examined through the input, process, and output components. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted from April to July 2026 with four informants selected through purposive sampling, comprising the Head of Sanitation, the Head of Facilities and Infrastructure, a Sanitation Staff, and a Cleaning Service officer. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document review, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with credibility ensured by source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings show that the input component is supported by adequate human resources, funding, facilities, and standard operating procedures; the process component is generally implemented in accordance with the regulation; and the output component is entirely handled by three licensed third-party companies with waste manifests and destruction certificates. However, waste piling during third-party transportation was observed, leaving container lids partially open. Medical solid waste management at RSU Bunda Thamrin has generally been implemented properly, yet supervision over third-party transportation still requires strengthening.
