The issue of drug abuse among Indonesian teenagers has reached alarming levels in 2024, with a national prevalence of 2.4% and 2.9% in North Sumatra Province. In Langkat Regency, there has been a 15% increase in drug cases among teenagers compared to the previous year. To address this challenge, the Desa Bersinar (Drug-Free Village) program was launched in Langkat Regency, utilizing an innovative peer group method in anti-drug interactive dialogues. This method was chosen for its effectiveness in fostering personal and relevant communication among teenagers, allowing anti-drug messages to be conveyed more deeply. The implementation involved collaboration between BNNK Langkat, Universitas Haji Sumatera Utara, and STIKes Columbia Asia Medan, integrating the program into community service initiatives. Discussions facilitated by peer leaders, supported by academics, used the SIGAB BNN Module as a comprehensive guide, aiming to create a drug-free school environment and develop a generation more aware of the dangers of drugs

Abstract

Stunting is one of the problems experienced by toddlers due to disruption of nutritional intake since pregnancy, which can hinder children's development and have long-term negative effects. Women who are not physically healthy enough to marry are more likely to have children who are short for their age. The aim of this service activity is to determine the relationship between early marriage and stunting in children. The questionnaire was used as a pre-test and post-test, by determining the average number of respondents who understood the information before and after being socialized on the topic of early marriage and adolescent reproductive health. The results of service activities show that the knowledge of young women in Tanjung Anom Village increased by >50% after being given material presentations by the PKM team. The suggestion given is to increase cross-sector collaboration between decision makers, so as to reduce the risk of stunting cases in the future.

Abstract

The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (type 2 DM) is one of the public health problems worldwide, with various factors as risk factors that can lead to high morbidity and mortality rates for people with type 2 DM. This study aims to identify, investigate, and summarize various scientific evidence related to risk factors for type 2 DM. The approach used in this study was a scoping review with the PRISMA protocol. The PICO framework was used as an early-stage strategy in conducting article searches. Databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect were used as literature search tools. The study inclusion criteria were journal articles published from 2016 to 2024 and English-language articles with open access. Of the 157 journal articles identified, only 11 were eligible for analysis after selection and eligibility. The data extraction stage was conducted by six people on 11 eligible articles and continued with the qualitative data analysis process. The study reported that age, education, duration of DM, gender and income, physical activity, obesity, consumption of sugary foods and beverages, and low fruit consumption are risk factors for type 2 DM.
