Abstract

Pesticides are toxic substances which have some negative impact on human health problems. Cholinesterase enzymes play a role in keeping the muscles, glands and nervous system working harmoniously. The high and low activity of cholinesterase enzyme is an indicator of the level of poisoning in the human body and can be used as an indication of the presence of pesticides in the blood. The research method used is Cross-Sectional at PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong Gohor Lama with a total sample of 65 workers was obtained by Simple Random Sampling. Information was obtained through interviews with questionnaire aids and cholinesterase examination using a tintometer kit. Based on the results of the analysis using chi-square obtained exposure to pesticides associated with cholinesterase levels in the blood of pesticide sprayers. The result of this study shows that the level of cholinesterase is significantly related to the length of service (p = 0.004) and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (p = 0.002). Suggestions for workers to be more obedient in using PPE in the workplace to minimize exposure to pesticides that enter the body, for companies to pay more attention to the feasibility of PPE that is replacing damaged PPE, make rules or sanctions if workers are negligent and do not use PPE that has been provided and workers with abnormal levels of cholinesterase should be moved temporarily to a minimum of chemical work and companies are advised to use environmentally friendly pesticides so as not to endanger workers, animals and non-targeted insects.

Abstract

Promiscuity is a common issue among adolescents, as a transitional phase that is highly susceptible to environmental influences, directly impacting physical, mental, and social health. Lack of understanding of the impacts of promiscuity can increase health risks for adolescents, including increased risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), unplanned pregnancy, organ damage due to addictive substances (narcotics), mental health disorders, and decreased social and academic functioning. This health promotion activity was conducted at Free Methodist 1 Junior High School in Medan as a form of early education and prevention. The goal was to increase students' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of promiscuity and encourage healthier and more responsible behavior. The method used was preventive education through lectures, discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions. The results of this activity showed an increase in student understanding of the material, for example, understanding of promiscuity increased from 70% to 85% and understanding of drug abuse from 62% to 67.5%, as well as the importance of developing a healthy lifestyle, avoiding harmful substances, and maintaining overall physical, mental, and social health

Abstract

The toddler period is a golden stage of child development influenced by several factors, including maternal knowledge in parenting. Working mothers face challenges in balancing professional responsibilities with caregiving roles. This study aimed to examine the relationship between working mothers’ knowledge and the growth and development of toddlers at Kasih Ibu Sejati Clinic, Sosa District, Padang Lawas Regency. This research used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach involving 42 working mothers with toddlers. The results showed that most working mothers had good knowledge (38.1%) and most toddlers were in the good developmental category (64.3%). The Chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.004, indicating a significant relationship between the mother's level of knowledge and toddler development. Good knowledge enables mothers to provide better-quality care despite time limitations. These findings imply the importance of enhancing education for working mothers to support optimal child development.
