Abstract

Globalization, accompanied by advancements in science and technology, has increased the usage of social media in Indonesia. Currently, social media accounts serve not only as platforms for interaction but also as potential sources of significant economic value. Moreover, regulations concerning the inheritance of social media accounts remain unclear and vary across platforms. The research methodology employed utilizes the normative juridical method, incorporating conceptual and case approaches. This study involves analysis of laws, court decisions, and social media platform policies. The research findings indicate that an extensive interpretation of inheritance in civil law, by considering their economic value, encompasses social media accounts. However, the implementation of social media account inheritance encounters various obstacles, including inconsistent platform policies. Some platforms have facilitated account preservation as memorials, but clarity regarding access to content or account management is lacking. Concerns persist regarding legal protection for heirs concerning social media accounts as inheritance. In the context of Civil Law, clear legal protection is necessary to ensure that heirs' rights are fulfilled, especially in acquiring economic benefits from inherited social media accounts. Furthermore, this paper underscores the necessity for clearer regulations within Civil Law concerning the inheritance of social media accounts. Strong legal protection is required to ensure justice for heirs and facilitate the effective and efficient resolution of digital legacy.

Abstract

Purpose: This article aims to analyze the protection of personal data in updating voter data for the Pilkada (regional head election) 2024 in Denpasar City. However, advances in digital technology that support election management present new challenges in terms of personal data security. The 2019 voter data leakage incident experienced by the Indonesian KPU makes the critical need for robust data protection measures in the election process. Research methods: This research employs a normative juridical method with both statute and conceptual approaches, analyzing data protection regulations such as Law No. 27 of 2022 and KPU Regulation No. 7 of 2024. Results and discussion: The findings reveal that the voter data updating process involves complex stages, including data matching and verification (coklit) conducted by 1,941 Voter Data Updating Officers in Denpasar City. Protecting personal data is crucial, as leaks could undermine the integrity and public trust in democracy. Implications: The research recommends improving training and supervision for data updating officers, strengthening data protection regulations, and leveraging technology to secure voter data. KPU and related institutions are advised to focus on data integrity by employing e-coklit applications and secure information systems. These measures are expected to maintain voter privacy and support a fair and transparent democratic process.

Abstract

Introduction and learning of traffic orders is not only the responsibility of the police but also requires an active role from all parties to minimize the occurrence of traffic violations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of traffic violation prevention against children. This type of research is qualitative. The population in this study includes all police officers, and the sample was determined purposively. The data collection method combines in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation with instruments like interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation checklists. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis methods. The results of this study are that the duties and functions of the police in handling traffic violations by children have positively contributed to reducing the number of violations. A comprehensive approach involving various parties is the key to overcoming the problem of traffic violations by children. It is concluded that efforts to overcome traffic violations against children carried out by the Badung Police have gone in the right direction and have had a positive impact on increasing legal awareness among children. However, its effectiveness has not been maximized due to various supporting factors that are still limited. The implication is that there is a need to strengthen the synergy between the police, schools, and families in building legal awareness from an early age, as well as increasing institutional capacity in carrying out the functions of fostering and enforcing the law in a preventive and educational manner towards children.
