Abstract

In an era of increasingly fierce industrial competition, speed and efficiency in the production process are important factors. Conveyors are one solution for moving goods continuously and efficiently. The purpose of this study discusses the design of an inclined conveyor drive motor with a capacity of 500 kg/minute at CV Dwitura. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Calculations include analysis of force, torque, and carrying capacity, as well as the selection of a 2.2 kW electric motor and an appropriate gearbox. The results of the study indicate that the design is able to meet the specified capacity requirements. The design of an inclined conveyor drive motor with a capacity of 500 kg/minute has been successfully realized by selecting a 2.2 kW motor and a 40-ratio gearbox. The calculation results show that the actual capacity exceeds the target, so the system is declared effective and feasible to use..

Abstract

Almost all existing ships already have a cooling system. For fishing boats, a cooling system is needed to maintain the quality of fish in order to obtain high economic value. There are various types of refrigerants, one of which is the Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) system. This paper describes the components and workings of the RSW system

Abstract

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is a metal joining method widely used in industry because it is capable of producing smooth, clean, and high-precision welds. However, in austenitic stainless steel SUS 304, the welding process often causes changes in mechanical properties due to thermal cycling that affect tensile strength, hardness, and toughness. This study aims to analyze the effect of TIG welding on the strength and mechanical properties of SUS 304 and to identify optimal parameters that can maintain the material's structural integrity. The method used is a qualitative approach with direct observation of the welding process, in-depth interviews with practitioners, and documentation of the results of tensile, hardness, and toughness tests in the laboratory, which were carried out for three months in the workshop and material laboratory. The results show that TIG joints in SUS 304 have tensile strength close to that of the parent material, the hardness distribution varies between zones, and the toughness decreases especially under high heat input conditions. The analysis of the results also confirms that welding parameter control plays an important role in preventing grain growth and sensitization phenomena that reduce mechanical properties. In conclusion, this study provides theoretical contributions to strengthen the study of the relationship between welding parameters and the mechanical properties of SUS 304, as well as practical contributions in the form of guidance for industry in optimizing joint quality.

Abstract

Abstract

Woodcraft micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) face relatively high occupational risks due to the intensive use of machinery, sharp tools, and continuous exposure to wood dust and noise. Limited knowledge and weak implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) principles remain key factors contributing to the elevated risk of workplace accidents. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge, risk awareness, and safe work behavior among woodcraft workers in Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using field observation, semi-structured interviews, pre-test and post-test, and activity documentation. The training was conducted on 17–20 September 2025 and involved ten woodcraft workers. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the application of safe work procedures, and better organization of the work environment.

Abstract

Sliding gate systems in cement mixer machines are critical components for regulating material flow; however, their performance is often constrained by excessive friction and shear forces, particularly under maximum load conditions. Empirical observations at PT FOCON Mojokerto revealed that the sliding gate fails to operate smoothly when the hopper load reaches one ton, leading to increased actuation force demand and overheating of the pneumatic cylinder. This study aims to analyze the shear forces acting on the sliding gate based on different material contact configurations and to determine the optimal pneumatic cylinder bore diameter for efficient operation. The research employs a quantitative analytical approach grounded in classical friction theory and pneumatic force analysis, using field-observed loading conditions and validated material friction coefficients. The results demonstrate that metal-to-metal contact generates the highest shear force (925 kg), whereas the use of nylon combined with grease lubrication reduces the shear force significantly to 187.5 kg, enabling a reduction in the required pneumatic cylinder bore diameter from 155 mm to 70 mm at a working pressure of 5 bar. These findings confirm that appropriate material selection and lubrication substantially improve sliding gate performance and actuator efficiency. The study concludes that polymer-based, lubricated sliding interfaces provide a practical and economical alternative to imported components. Scientifically, this research contributes by explicitly linking tribological material properties to pneumatic actuator sizing in industrial sliding gate design.

Abstract

Environmental problems such as low public awareness of cleanliness, increasing waste volume, and ecosystem degradation remain serious challenges in urban areas. These conditions directly affect environmental quality, public health, and community comfort. This article aims to describe the implementation of a community service program through environmental clean up activities to create a clean and comfortable environment while shaping caring and innovative character among students and local communities. The method applied was Participatory Action Research (PAR) involving students, community members, and related institutions from planning, implementation, to evaluation stages. Activities were conducted in the Afvoer Kemambang River area and the Universitas Sunan Giri Surabaya campus through collective actions cleaning waste, weeds, and tree branches. The results show significant improvement in environmental cleanliness, growth of collective awareness, and behavioral changes in waste management practices. Furthermore, the program strengthened collaboration between universities, government agencies, and communities and encouraged sustainable initiatives such as rotating cleanliness schedules.
