Abstract

All operations of aquaculture production rely upon the 60% of feed role as an energy source and nutrition for the growth and survival rate of aquatic organisms, especially tilapia fish. This research aims to study feeding different food types to the growth and survival rate of tilapia fingerlings. A sample of fingerlings was derived from the Centre for Aquaculture Production Business Service (BLUPPB) Karawang and reared in Aquaculture Teaching Factory. The fingerlings were stocked with as many as 5 ind/L with three treatments i.e Azolla (P1), artificial feed (P2), and a combination of Azolla and artificial feed (P3). The growth-based length of fingerlings fed by Azolla (P1) is 6 – 7.76 cm, commercial pellet feed (P2) 6 – 11.81 cm, and combination Azolla and commercial pellet feed 6-9.36 cm. The growth-based weight of fingerlings fed by Azolla (P1) is 4 – 5.87 g, commercial pellet feed 4 – 25.11 g, and a combination of Azolla and commercial pellet feed 4 – 11.27 g. The survival rate of fingerlings fed by Azolla is 23%, commercial pellet feed 88%, and combination Azolla and commercial pellet feed 91%.Keywords: Azolla, commercial pellet feed, fingerlings, growth, survival rateAbstrakSeluruh operasional produksi akuakultur sangat bergantung dari 60% peran pakan sebagai sumber nutrisi dan energi bagi pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup organisme akuatik dalam hal ini ikan nila. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan studi terkait pemberian jenis pakan berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup benih ikan nila. Sampel benih ikan nila berasal dari Balai Layanan Usaha Produksi Perikanan Budidaya (BLUPPB) Karawang dan dipelihara di Teachign Factory Budidaya Ikan. Ikan yang dipelihara adalah sebanyak 5 ind/L dengan tiga perlakuan meliputi pakan azolla (P1), pakan pellet komersil (P2) dan kombinasi palat azolla dan pellet komersil (P3). Pertumbuhan panjang ikan yang diberikan perlakuan pakan azolla (P1) adalah 6 - 7.76 cm, pakan pellet komersial (P2) 6 - 11.81 cm dan perlakuan kombinasi pakan pellet komersil dan azolla (P3) 6 - 9.36 cm. Pertumbuhan berat ikan dari perlakuan pakan azolla (P1) 4 – 5.87 g, perlakuan pellet komersial (P2) 4 – 25.11 g dan perlakuan kombinasi pakan pellet komersil dan azolla (P3) 4 – 11.27 g. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup benih ikan nila yang diberikan perlakuan pakan azolla adalah sebesar 23%, pakan pellet komersil 88% dan kombinasi pakan azolla dan pellet komersil adalah 91%.Kata Kunci: azolla, benih, pakan pellet komersil, pertumbuhan, tingkat kelangsungan hidup.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth of Kappaphycus alvarezii plantlets applied with different PES fertilizers. This research was conducted at Blitok Installation, brackish water aquaculture center, Situbondo. This study began with the preparation of water as a maintenance medium, acclimatization of plantlets in the greenhouse, maintenance of plantlets in the greenhouse (plantlet cleaning, fertilization), and checking water quality. The application dose of PES fertilizer given as treatment was 15 ml, 20 ml, and 25 ml which was repeated 3 times. The rearing design used a completely randomized design (CRD) model. The results obtained showed that the average absolute weight gain of planlets from the 15 ml treatment was 0.249 g - 0.271 g, the 20 ml treatment was 0.35 g - 0.432 g, and the 25 ml treatment ranged from 0.306 g - 0.372 g. For the specific growth rate from the first to the fifth week of rearing, the 15 ml treatment ranged from 3.162-1.693, the 20 ml treatment ranged from 3.922-4.21 and the 25 ml treatment ranged from 2.899-3.904. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of a PES fertilizer dosage of 20 ml gave better growth than the 15 ml and 25 ml doses. Abstract

The snubnose pompano (Trachinotus blochii), which is an introduced fish, is currently in increasing demand, both for the domestic market (Jakarta and other big cities) and international markets such as Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. The snubnose pompano can be cultivated in ponds because it is tolerant to changes in salinity (5-40 ppt). In this study, the use of lights installed in cages used to maintain the snubnose pompano nursery will be responded to natural food that is positively phototactic (zooplankton, shrimp, and small fish species) which will gather as feed at night. So, it is hoped that the use of these organisms as an alternative feed source can increase feed efficiency. The urgency of this research is to determine efforts to save on the use of artificial feed and to suppress parasite attacks. A t-test was carried out to compare the averages of two different samples, on the growth rate and health of snubnose pompano fish. Research using lights resulted in optimum growth of snubnose pompano with 100% survival rate, feed conversion ratio (FCR) value of 0.9 and produced snubnose pompano size 80–100 g/head within two months as well as healthy fish seeds. With indicators of parasitic attack that are lower than the treatment without light with a prevalence value of 25% (with lights); range of 25%-75% (without lights) and intensity 6-8 (with lights); range 11-35.67 (without light). The snubnose pompano seeds are always actively moving when the light is on, the use of the light can effectively catch organisms such as small shrimp or small crustaceans so that the snubnose pompano seeds can be used to be digested as an alternative food (as observed in the stomach contents and intestines of the snubnose pompano). The light also indicates that parasitic attacks on the snubnose pompano are less common.

Abstract

The aquaculture of Anguilla bicollor has significant economic potential, but persistent challenges continue to hinder profitability for farmers. Two of the most pressing issues are low dissolved oxygen levels and poor feed conversion efficiency. These problems slow eel growth and drive-up operational costs, creating a bottleneck for sustainable production. This study examines a combined strategy to tackle these challenges by integrating probiotics (Lactobacillus sp.) and paddlewheel aeration. Research was conducted at BLUPPB Karawang, using 600 juvenile eels in ponds subjected to four distinct treatments: (1) probiotics and paddlewheels together, (2) paddlewheels-only, (3) probiotics-only, and (4) a control group with no intervention. Over a 45-day period, survival rates (SR), relative growth rates (RGR), and feed conversion ratios (FCR) were carefully monitored. The findings were promising. Ponds that used both probiotics and paddlewheels achieved the best results: an RGR of 1.19%, an SR of 100%, and an FCR of 1.09. Probiotics contributed to better gut health and digestion, while the paddlewheels boosted water oxygenation—creating an ideal growth environment. While no direct interaction between the two methods was observed, their combined application proved highly effective in improving productivity and sustainability. This integrated approach offers a practical solution to some of the most significant challenges in Anguilla bicollor aquaculture.

Abstract

Cantang grouper is a leading commodity, especially hatchery centers, namely East Java and Bali which is Indonesia's flagship. The growth of cantang grouper fish is hampered by one of the diseases caused Iridovirus and Viral Nervous Necrosis (VNN). These two diseases attacks the seed stage which causes high mortality, so that early detection is needed for preventive action. This study aims to detect and inventory of Iridovirus and VNN in cantang grouper. This research was carried out at BPBAP Situbondo, Irodovirus was detected using conventional PCR and VNN using rRT-PCR. Cantang grouper samples measuring 2,5-12 cm came from Situbondo and its surroundings, Bali and Lombok with a total of 23 samples. The test results showed that all samples were negative for Iridovirus, while the VNN examination showed 3 positive samples and 20 negative samples. Observation of clinical symptoms showed that the cantang grouper were in good health, swimming actively and did not show symptoms of Iridovirus and VNN infection. The prevalence of VNN infection in cantang grouper 13,04% which was included in the category of frequent infections.
