Abstract

Abstract

In this paper, I explore the philosophical ideas of Karol Wojtyla, focusing on his anthropology rooted in personalism. Wojtyla emphasized the interconnectedness of individuals, drawing attention to themes like participation, solidarity, and self-giving. His philosophy underscores the complexity of the human person and their inherent relational nature. I analyze his thoughts on the experience of actions and events, the relationship between person and action, and the person's transcendence through truth and self-gift. This study highlights the inherent dignity of each individual and argues that Wojtyla’s philosophy offers a coherent personalist perspective that merits further exploration.

Abstract

This study examines the pedagogical principles embedded in the thought of Thomas Aquinas through an anthropological lens, emphasizing their relevance to contemporary education. Grounded in Aquinas's theological anthropology and metaphysical realism, the paper explores three key dimensions: (1) the human learner as a rational and volitional being oriented toward truth and virtue ; (2) the teacher’s role as a facilitator of knowledge rather than its cause ; and (3) the relational and dialogical nature of education as a path to moral and intellectual formation (Torrell; Pieper). Aquinas’s epistemology, which integrates sensory experience with intellectual abstraction, supports a constructivist approach to learning, while his emphasis on disputatio fosters critical inquiry. The study argues that Aquinas’s holistic model—uniting truth-seeking, virtue cultivation, and relational pedagogy—offers a robust alternative to reductionist educational paradigms, addressing modern challenges such as moral relativism and dehumanized instruction. Ultimately, his vision reaffirms education as a transformative journey toward wisdom and beatitude.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the foundations of religious authority and ethical formation in contemporary societies. This study examines how algorithmic systems—such as chatbots, recommendation algorithms, and AI-generated sermons—reshape religious legitimacy and moral discourse. Employing a conceptual–philosophical approach grounded in personalist realism, the research integrates theological anthropology with normative policy analysis to assess the ethical implications of AI in religious life. The findings indicate that AI shifts religious authority from institutional mediation toward algorithmic visibility and data-driven influence. While this transformation democratizes access to religious knowledge, it also fragments theological coherence and weakens interpretive accountability. A central moral paradox emerges: increased participation in religious discourse coexists with diminished spiritual depth and responsibility. Ethical concerns arise from distributed agency, opaque algorithmic processes, and the reduction of human dignity to data-based representations. The study argues that prevailing regulatory frameworks, which focus primarily on technical governance and risk mitigation, are insufficient to address the deeper moral challenges posed by AI in religious contexts. It therefore proposes a shift toward a transcendental policy framework that conceives governance as moral praxis oriented toward truth, responsibility, and human flourishing. Policy recommendations include the development of a Religious Digital Ethics Framework, the establishment of a Digital Religious Ethics Council, and the integration of interfaith digital ethics education. The study concludes that religious policy must be grounded in the principle of imago Dei, ensuring that technological innovation remains subordinate to human dignity and humanity’s spiritual vocation.

Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of “blurred faith” among young people in the digital era, where belief often remains declarative but detached from communal participation and relational depth. Drawing on international and Indonesian research, the analysis highlights three expressions of blurred faith: declaration without participation, emotion without doctrinal depth, and moral privatization. Using a personalist framework inspired by Karol Wojtyła, Thomas Aquinas, and Emmanuel Lévinas, the study interprets blurred faith not merely as a decline in religiosity but as a relational crisis—a rupture of the I–Thou encounter with God and others. The paper argues that blurred faith is intensified by digital culture, which favors immediacy and emotional consumption over commitment and solidarity. By situating this phenomenon in the Indonesian context, the study emphasizes the role of local communal values such as gotong royong as a philosophical corrective. The findings point toward the need for personalistic criteria in religious education and pastoral practice to restore faith as a living relational reality.
