Abstract

In November 2021, Covid-19 vaccination coverage in the special capital area (DKI) Jakarta stage 1 (one) reached 78.1% and stage 2 (two) 60.4% for local identity cards (KTP) DKI Jakarta. Covid-19 vaccination coverage for area the Palmerah District stage 1 (one) has reached 96.56% but unfortunately for stage 2 (two) it has not met the expected target. In order to reduce the Covid-19 case, the regional administration (Pemda) of DKI Jakarta has continued given education and socialization to increase public awareness in implementing health protocols and providing Covid-19 vaccinations to the public.Another problem that occurs in the Palmerah District is the increase cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This increase is due to the rainy season which is the breeding time for the Aedes Aegepty mosquito. DHF can be prevented through controlling the Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) programme. Public awareness for healthy behavior and maintaining a mosquito-free home environment is still lacking therefor counseling and training are needed for the community to prevent dengue.Since the Covid 19 pandemic, the Dental Health Education Program could not be implemented in Palmerah Health Center due to pandemic and limited resources. Providing dental health education (DHE) to health cadres will increase oral health in community. The results obtained after the training significantly increased the knowledge of the cadres and community members who participated in the event. Thus this collaboration program should continue regularly to maintain knowledge and health practice in community.

Abstract

Health efforts to reduce the risk of health problems in infants under one month old include three neonatal visits (KN1-KN3). These visits aim to increase neonatal access to basic health services and detect infant abnormalities early. Services, provided by doctors, midwives, or nurses, can be conducted at health centers or through home visits, involving infant examinations and counseling for mothers. Community service activities include refreshing cadres, home and partner visits, making reporting barcodes for partners and health promotion for mothers. The results showed significant relationships between mothers' knowledge (p = 0.018), beliefs (p = 0.003), and attitudes (p = 0.039) with the neonatal visits conducted. Continuous education for health cadres about the importance of complete neonatal visits is essential to achieve comprehensive service coverage for infants under one month old.

Abstract

Purpose: Indonesia strives to remain polio-free and eradicate polio globally by 2026, adding two inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) vaccine doses to the 2023 child immunization schedule. IPV2 immunization has been introduced in DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten provinces. This initiative aims to enhance public health by protecting against vaccine-preventable diseases. Methods: A mixed-method study was conducted in December 2022 - January 2023 at South Jakarta, Mampang Prapatan district health center, focusing on IPV2's second dose introduction evaluation. Results: Effective health promotion and seamless integration of primary health services are pivotal in implementing vaccination services. Despite ongoing understanding gaps, health cadres and parents showed significant knowledge gains (p<0.05) post-intervention. The health cadres' role in education is crucial. Conclusion: Aligned with the tiered health transformation, which has evolved into a collaborative movement grounded in the life cycle, health cadres' effective deployment and support play a pivotal role in sustaining Indonesia’s polio-free achievement.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the key determinants influencing non-prescription antibiotic use and identifies knowledge gaps in Indonesia, based on the 2023 National Health Survey (SKI 2023). Using national data, the research examines education, healthcare access, gender, and age-related trends, comparing these trends across rural and urban populations. Methods: The study utilizes SKI 2023 national data to analyze antibiotic usage patterns and examine trends related to education, healthcare access, public awareness, gender, and age. A comparative analysis of urban and rural areas reveals disparities, with Pearson Chi-Square and Multinomial Logistic Regression tests applied at p≤0.05 for statistical significance. Results: The study shows that lower education levels are significantly associated with higher antibiotic misuse (p<0.001). Younger individuals and males also tend to misuse antibiotics more frequently and have lower knowledge levels (p<0.001). In urban areas, 58.4% of males and 54.3% of females report using antibiotics without a prescription. Limited access to healthcare is also significantly linked to increased self-medication (p<0.001). Additionally, 73.5% of respondents hold misconceptions about antimicrobial resistance (AMR), underscoring the urgent need for improved public awareness and education. Conclusion: According to the Indonesian Health Survey 2023, non-prescription antibiotic use is more prevalent among individuals with lower educational attainment, younger age, male gender, urban residence, and limited access to healthcare. To address this issue, public policies should prioritize health education, school-based awareness programs, improved access to healthcare, and stricter regulation of antibiotic sales.

Abstract

Tetanus is a serious disease caused by spores of the bacterium Clostridium tetani. Tetanus infection has no boundaries as people of all ages can be infected and it is still a public health problem today, especially for pregnant women and newborns. Neonatal tetanus (TN) is the tetanus infection in infants aged 3 – 28 days after birth and maternal tetanus (MT) is the infection that occurs during pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after delivery. Tetanus infection generally occurs if the delivery is not carried out in health facilities with adequate equipment and is known as one of the most common causes of death during childbirth. The aim of this Community Service activity was to provide counseling about the importance of Tetanus Toxoid (TT) T immunization for prospective brides and WUS who came to the mother and children out-patient clinic at the Primary Health Care. Cadres those bearing an important role in expanding health information for the community were also involved in this program. This Community Service activity held counseling for the prospective bride and fertile-aged women, while the cadres were given refreshing additional knowledge about TT immunization. The results of this activity were increasing the cadres’ knowledge about TT immunization, and those prospective-bride and fertile-aged women were also encouraged to carry out active TT immunization at the Primary Health Care. There is also a need for cross-sector collaboration with the Religious Affairs office in the application of evidence of TT immunization for prospective-bride as a mandatory requirement that could be implemented properly.
