Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of using the Wattpad application as a learning media in enhancing reading interest skills among freshman students. This study employs a quantitative approach, with freshman students as its sample. Data in this research were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires sent randomly to freshman students who are notably in the transitional period from high school to college education. The selection of Wattpad as a media was used as an implementation of learning media to enhance reading interest. Based on the conducted research, there is an increase in reading interest caused by the utilization of online media compared to print media. Additionally, it was found that there is an increase in the vocabulary treasury possessed by students after transitioning to using Wattpad as a media.

Abstract

Kesalahan berbahasa banyak ditemukan  di berbagai ruang publik, baik di lingkungan pendidikan maupun masyarakat umum. Tak terkecuali di ruang publik Kota Serang, Banten. Kesalahan-kesalahan itu meliputi pemakaian tanda baca, penulisan huruf kapital, singkatan dan akronim, maupun penggunaan kata baku dan tidak baku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia khususnya ejaan bahasa Indonesia di ruang publik Kota Serang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah  metode deskriptif kualitatif  dengan kata berupa pemakaian tanda baca, penulisan huruf kapital, singkatan dan akronim, maupun penggunaan kata baku dan tidak baku. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi langsung, dokumentasi, baca, catat, dan sampling bertujuan. Aktivitas analisis data dilakukan dengan  pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesalahan pemakaian ejaan bahasa Indonesia di ruang publik Kota Serang khususnya pada poster atau papan nama lembaga, toko, spanduk, tempat makan, dan beberapa fasilitas lainnya.

Abstract

This research was conducted because of the rampant use of prokem language in the Indonesian population, especially among students. This research aims to: 1) to know the form of prokem language used by students, 2) to know the impact of using prokem language in everyday life and 3) to know the effect of using prokem language on the existence of Indonesian language among students. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The data collection techniques used were participant observation techniques and questionnaires. Respondents in this study were prokem students, selected using simple random sampling technique. The results showed: There are 5 forms of prokem language that are often used by students, 2) negative and positive impacts of using prokem language among students in daily communication, 3) the use of prokem language affects the existence of Indonesian language.

Abstract

This research adopts a qualitative descriptive design to explain and depict the characteristics of the Bandrong Lisung motif in Batik Cikadu. Using a descriptive approach, the research explores the meanings of the motif without strict limitations and employs qualitative methods to understand the visual language and meanings within the motif, focusing on the semantic script and cognitive aspects. The Bandrong Lisung motif in Batik Cikadu serves as a visualization of the gratitude of the Pandeglang community towards the rice harvesting activities. As a representation of rural life, this motif honors the role of agriculture in local culture, symbolizing gratitude for abundant harvests with profound spiritual and social significance.The analysis of movements in the Banderong Lesung Dance reveals symbolism in each gesture, creating a portrayal of rural life and expressing the cultural richness of agrarian society. Facial expressions and body movements provide emotional dimensions and cognitive language that connect the audience to everyday life. The aesthetic elements of the Banderong Lesung Dance, including color, motifs, and costumes, convey symbolic meanings associated with nature and agriculture. Accessories such as cloth and head ornaments play a crucial role in the semantic script, conveying deep cultural messages. The Banderong Lesung Dance creates a distinctive atmosphere through its musical style, rhythm, and tempo, enriching the audience's experience. The analysis of space and backgrounds highlights the importance of visual elements in the performance context, deepening the cultural meaning of the dance. As a local heritage, the Banderong Lesung Dance is not merely a dance but a form of preserving values and cultural identity. This analysis illustrates how the Pandeglang community preserves the authenticity of this dance as an inseparable part of their cultural heritage, making it more than just a performance art but a living legacy connecting them to their cultural roots.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the existence of Indonesian in conveying verbal communication among generation Z. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research in the form of a survey. The subjects of this research were young people belonging to the Z generation group, consisting of 55 respondents. This research will adopt qualitative methods through a qualitative approach, namely using parameters with Google from. This activity will involve direct observation and in-depth interviews with a number of individuals from Generation Z who have diverse social and educational backgrounds in various regions of Indonesia. Qualitative data analysis consists of four activity streams, namely: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research results state, (1) The intensity of language use in conveying verbal communication is divided into three parts, namely; (A) The intensity of language use by generation Z is dominated by the use of slang or modified language. This is related to the tendency to express themselves more casually and follow everyday language trends. (B) The intensity of use of standard language or language that is good and correct used by the majority of Generation Z is only at formal events. This is related to self- positioning in an effort to increase the impression of professionalism in formal situations, although there are some who claim to use standard language more often However, it seems that the use of this language has not been fully created in non-formal situations, whereas (C) In formal situations, language choice expresses preferring to use standard language in formal situations and some express it depending on the person they are talking to and a small number choose to use informal language or fail and modifications and mixtures even in formal situations. (2) The ability to communicate verbally, namely speaking and writing using standard language or language that is good and correct, most of generation Z can speak and write using standard language well, others have good abilities in only one of them and a small number not really able to use standard language well and even tend to have little understanding of the use of standard language. (3) The existence of the Indonesian language has evolved over time, there are modified languages made by the younger generation, especially generation Z, and even several modified languages have been added to the KBBI. This also has an impact on the existence of the language, the positive impact is increased knowledge of the language, enjoyable communication and Language inclusivity while the negative impact is the lack of use of standard language, changes in ethics in communication and errors in the use of modified language (slang).
