Abstract

In addition to its religious function, the Balinese shadow puppet performance art also functions as an educational medium. In this regard, shadow puppet performances can be seen as an informal educational process that has great significance in understanding attitudes, mental, ethical and logical values. In order to preserve Balinese wayang kulit, the role of millennial youth is very important and complex, namely as heir artists (dalang) who preserve wayang art. In general, shadow puppet shows today are still the favorite of the Balinese people, but in several villages the existence of wayang is almost extinct because millennial young people as heirs do not want to learn wayang for reasons of being busy so that one day the art of wayang could be lost. The case is in Banjar Padang, Kerobokan Village, North Kuta District, three regenerating families of shadow puppet masters do not want to learn wayang so they need assistance. The wayang art companion will provide an understanding of the preservation, function and meaning of Balinese wayang, so that service to the community, especially in the world of wayang art, can be realized.

Abstract

Tembang has an important role in the life of the Hindu community in Bali. Learning tembang will also teach you language, script, meter, cultural concepts and the values contained in this literature. Tembang means nembang which is associated with the word kembang meaning flower. Flowers or sekar have a role and function as a source of beauty where the God Kama (God of beauty) resides. In reality, as a generator of lust, it is in line with the role and function of flowers or Dewa Kama during ceremonies in Bali. The role of elderly fathers and mothers today in pursuing songs in Bali is a huge appreciation for the entire Balinese people. In preserving Balinese songs, these elderly people never stop learning so that they are useful for the lives of today's society, especially since Covid-19 has passed and is a warning for all of us to always be alert. For the elderly in Tumbabakbayuh Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, this is motivation to learn to find a solution so that these things do not happen again. Abstract

The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) conducted by Group 8 of Universitas PGRI Mahadewa Indonesia in Jagapati Village, Abiansemal District, aimed to empower women and the elderly through culturally based activities. The core initiatives included a traditional Balinese hair bun (sanggul) workshop for local women and wellness exercises for senior citizens, designed to enhance practical skills, physical fitness, and social engagement. The sanggul workshop provided an opportunity for women to learn traditional makeup techniques that could be applied in ceremonial contexts or developed into small-scale entrepreneurial ventures. Meanwhile, the wellness sessions for the elderly served as a platform to maintain physical and mental health while fostering social connection. The program employed a participatory method involving observation, hands-on training, and evaluation. Results showed strong participant engagement and increased motivation for community involvement. This initiative reflects a meaningful collaboration between students and local residents in building a healthy, empowered, and culturally rooted village.
