Abstract

Students in Indonesia need the motivation to be more interested in English lessons, one of which is by giving songs in class. The English song can attract the students in the teaching and learning process for English class. The students at SMAN 1 Palu have a low ability in listening comprehension. This research aims to find out the relationship between the students’ habits in listening to English songs and their listening comprehension achievement. The result of this research consists of the interpretation of data obtained in this research, the relation of data obtained with the theories from both variables, and the relation comparison of this research with the previous students. The result data was obtained from 20 students of eleventh grade at MAN 1 Palu. Based on the result, the scores of sig between the effect Like Song and Don’t Like Song were 0,231 or more than 0,05. Then the researcher concluded that Listening to English song habits has a correlation with listening comprehension of the eleventh-grade students of MAN 1 Palu revealed by the mean score of the students’ questionnaire. The mean score level was 48.40%, which is a high category level.

Abstract

Vocabulary plays an important role in language acquisition. By mastering vocabulary, the students can express their idea easily. The reality, many students have a limited vocabulary. This paper focuses on the use of morphological awareness to increase students' vocabulary knowledge. The researcher applied Quantitative Research. The instrument used to collect the data was tests. The pre-test is to determine the level of students' vocabulary mastery before being given the treatment, while the post-test test is used to find out the results after being given the treatment. There is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores, there is a morphological effect on vocabulary knowledge at Ma'had Al-Jamiah IAIN Palu with foreign languages. This is evidenced by the results obtained where the final result of the average value of students is 67.2 while the previous grade was 34 and has increased by about 97%. This research is in accordance with the target. Thus, there is a significant increase after being given the treatment of Using Morphological Awareness to Increase Students' Vocabulary Knowledge.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether short stories can be successful in improving students' vocabulary mastery or not. The researcher used quantitative research with experimental design using one-group-pretest-posttest. The sample of this research is class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 6 Palu that consists of 15 students. This class is taken as the experimental class, and the class is taught by using a short story, specifically about the legend. The selection of samples in this research used purposive sampling. After conducting the test, the researcher got the mean score of the students' pre-test is 48.33 while the average score of the post-test is 74.00. Then the data were analyzed using the t-test formula. The result of data analysis shows that t-count was greater than t-table, t-count = 6.282 and t-table = 1.771 at a significance level of 0.05. It can be concluded that there is a significant improving in students' vocabulary mastery after using short stories as learning materials.

Abstract

The reading comprehension of grade IX students of MTs Palasa is still low, especially in reading narrative texts. so that the researcher was motivated to discuss the thesis entitled "The Effect of Using Listening-Reading-Discussion (LRD) Strategy on Students' Understanding of Reading Narrative Text at Mts Palasa". This research aims to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of using listening-read-discussion strategies on students' understanding of reading narrative texts. This research method is quantitative. The research design used is quasi-experimental. In the experimental class, the researcher used the listening-read-discuss method and in the control class, the researcher methods that are often used by teachers at the school, in 8 meetings with a time of 80 minutes for each class. The researcher used an instrument in the form of multiple choice. The instrument is given in pre-test and post-test. Before giving the treatment, the researcher gave a pre-test for the second class. Then after the treatment, the instrument was given in the form of a posttest. After giving the pre-test and post-test, the researcher analyzed the data using SPSS 25 to calculate the independent sample t-test. From the analysis of the data calculated using SPSS 25, this research shows differences in the value of the final significant mean between the classes, from the experimental class, was 70.00, while the final mean of the control class is 58.50. The hypothesis test shows that sig. 2 tailed (p) is 0.001 with alpha (α) is 0.05, so 0.002 < 0.05. It can be stated that Ho (Null Hypothesis) has been rejected and Ha (Alternative Hypothesis) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of listening-reading-discussion strategi affects the reading comprehension of ninth-grade students of MTs Palasa on narrative texts in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji tentang peran pustakawan dalam mewujudkan visi dan misi Perpustakaan Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran pustakawan dalam mewujudkan visi dan misi serta faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam mewujudkan visi dan misi di Perpustakaan Daerah Propinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan dan menggambarkan fenomena-fenomena yang ada. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Adapun informan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kepala perpustakaan, pustakawan dan pemustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam mewujudkan visi dan misi Perpustakaan Daerah Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah, peran pustakawan lebih difokuskan dalam hal pelayanan, yakni pelayanan umum dan pelayanan referensi, sedangkan dalam pelaksanaannya untuk mewujudkan visi dan misi Perpustakaan Daerah Propinsi Sulawesi Tengah memiliki faktor pendukung yakni peningkatan kapasitas SDM dan sarana prasarana yang memadai, akan tetapi selain faktor pendukung juga terdapat faktor penghambat yaitu usia para tenaga pustakawan dan kedisiplinan.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas tentang penerapaka aplikasi INLISLite di Perpustakaan Al-Qalam Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Alkhairaat Palu. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui a) penerapan atau penggunaan INLISLite, b) peluang dan kendala apa saja yang dihadapi pustakawan dalam mengoperasionalkan INLISLite, dan c) kendala apa saja yang dihadapi pemustaka dalam mengakses koleksi aplikasi INLISLite di Perpustakaan Al-Qalam Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Alkhairaat Palu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Penulis akan mewancarai pustakawan dan pemustaka/mahasiswa dalam mengumpulkan data. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan beberapa teknik yaitu, reduksi data, penyajian data dan verifikasi data. Untuk menguji keabsahan data yang diperoleh, penulis menggunakan teknik perpanjangan pengamatan dan triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi INLISLite di Perpustakaan Al-Qalam Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Alkhairaat Palu belum digunakan secara optimal oleh pustakawan dalam mengelola perpustakaan. Kendala yang dihadapi pustakawan dalam mengoperasikan aplikasi INLISLite adalah masih kurangnya pengetahuan pustakawan tentang aplikasi INLISLite dan kurangnya sumber daya manusia yang ahli dalam pengetahun TIK serta beberapa kendala pada server. Manfaat atau peluang yang didapatkan dalam menggunakan apliaksi INLISLite ini sangat mengefisienkan waktu apa lagi dalam penginputan data koleksi kedalam INLISLite untuk dijadikan koleksi digital. Penggunaan OPAC masih kurang dimanfaatkan pemustaka untuk mencari koleksi bahan pustaka, kerena banyak koleksi yang tidak sesuai yang tampil di OPAC dengan di rak buku.
