Abstract

This study aims to analyse the need for developing Android-based science e-books for PGMI FTK UIN Mataram students. By applying a quantitative approach through questionnaires, this research seeks to identify the needs and characteristics of students in learning science. The results of the analysis showed that 80% of the 45 respondents considered science materials, especially physics content, difficult to understand. The majority of respondents (80%) wanted teaching materials in digital format due to its practicality, effectiveness and efficiency. The very strong support (97.8%) for the development of interactive e-books reflects the urgency of this innovation in improving the quality of learning. The expected e-book is an interactive learning platform with rich multimedia features, while remaining simple and easy to use. E-book development needs to consider student characteristics, such as cognitive and affective development stages, interest in visual materials, and the need for concrete media. In addition, e-book content must be aligned with the competency standards and basic competencies in the applicable curriculum. This research provides a strong foundation for the development of innovative and effective Android-based science e-books to support learning in PGMI Prodi FTK UIN Mataram.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a project-based Science-Physics E-Book to enhance student creativity in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education (PGMI) program at the State Islamic University (UIN) of Mataram. The need for innovative learning resources to improve understanding of science and physics concepts, as well as foster 21st-century skills, particularly creativity, in prospective primary school teachers, forms the basis of this research. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. In the analysis stage, learning needs and student characteristics were assessed through interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis. The design phase included developing an E-Book framework with interactive elements. The content was enriched with multimedia and integrated into a project-based learning approach. Limited and extensive trials were conducted with PGMI UIN Mataram students. Formative and summative evaluations assessed the effectiveness of the e-book in fostering student creativity (p < 0.05). Results indicated that the e-book successfully enhanced creativity, as reflected in higher creativity scores and positive feedback from students and lecturers. The novelty of this research lies in the creation of an interactive, project-based E-Book, a first for PGMI UIN Mataram, contributing to the advancement of digital learning resources for primary school teacher education.

Abstract

This study addresses the pressing need to enhance digital literacy among students, particularly within the framework of project-based learning that incorporates e-books in the science curriculum. The primary aim is to assess the effectiveness of the Project-Based Blended Learning (PBBL) approach in boosting students' digital literacy. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with pre-test and post-test assessments conducted on two student groups. The experimental group engaged in project-based learning using e-books, while the control group followed traditional teaching methods. Data analysis, performed through t-tests, was used to compare the digital literacy improvements between the groups. The findings revealed that students who participated in PBBL with e-books showed a substantial increase in digital literacy compared to those in conventional learning environments. E-books in project-based learning offer greater flexibility, interactivity, and dynamism, significantly fostering the development of digital literacy skills. This research contributes empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of PBBL in enhancing digital literacy and offers valuable insights for advancing technology-driven teaching approaches in science education.
